I agree....June has been a great month for us, but to listen to this group you'd think we sucked.

Please don't generalize the board during a game thread. This is the reactionary part of the board. Sure, it's going to get negative when the team does not do well.

But either way, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of folks here know the Orioles are a great team hitting a good team when they're getting hot. It happens. The Orioles will be fine.

What's not reactionary is that this team needs pitching. Of course, that's not the problem today. Burnes is just having a bad game. But it is a problem for the rest of the season. There's just not enough pitching after all the injuries.

Burnes has really only made a couple of bad pitches but is probably going to pitch into the 7th. Not the worse start. If the Orioles had scored 11 runs we'd be all happy with his start.

This team though does need pitching though. Especially in the bullpen where there are not a lot of guys that I feel totally confident in and those that we did will get used so much they'll implode like Webb and Tate did yesterday.

That short inning was exactly what we needed. Pulling it together to get into the latter innings no matter how his day has gone seems to be Burnes’ specialty, his mark as a top-of-the-rotation pitcher.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.

    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
