The law firm was one of the most successful personal injury firms in the country.  That is what allowed Peter to buy the team in the first place.

From all I had read the firm had not been doing well for quite some time.

If you have any knowledge of recent wins I'd be glad to change my post.

Has Peter been involved in running the team lately? My impression is that he ceded control to John around the time of the Elias hire and was completely incapacitated at least going into this offseason if not earlier.

Isn’t he still dead?

People with takes like Webrick come from bitter husks. They honestly should find another team to follow or perhaps go for a walk or something. Maybe take up quilting or find a gym? Maybe join a softball league? It’s embarrassing honestly.

I agree with you .  I try take high road and give them their own space

Actual question - at what point does the Orioles' efforts in the international amateur market start to become apparant?  I seem to recall that pitching was rumored to be a focus there.

The top 30 will be littered with international players so I'd say it's starting to show up in the lower minors. The Orioles have taken an approach of not spending much money on arms, but going after the guys with the big arms or big upsides, even if they come with control issues. There are some interesting ones starting to show up in the states so again, we shall see.

It takes a while to develop those relationships, and the 2019 signing period was the first one under the watch of Elias and Perez.  It took them a couple years to make it into the top 50 prospect signings, and the first big one was Samuel Basallo.  However, we have a couple from 2019 that are knocking around the high minors as well.

Over 20% of MLB players come from the J2 signing pool, so we have to be active there, and know that it takes time to produce players and it is literally throwing darts to get someone good.  And knowing that there is a 3-5 year learning curve for these players to go through the development system, we still have to keep our expectations in check.

I love how you say it takes time to develop the relationships and then you name drop Basallo who was linked to the Yankees before signing with the Orioles.

Since there was a thread to eliminate the field manager, I thought there should be a thread to fire the general manager

In the past 12 months we have gone from a 101 win AL East champion backed up by a AAA champion Norfolk tides and #1 farm system to a team

With Slater, Eloy, Rivera, and Livian Soto on the active roster

Connor Norby (10 game hitting streak), and Kyle Stowers ( 6 RBI's this week), were traded for nothing (and there was near universal agreement that this was a dreadful trade)

The system is heavy on LH hitting prospects

The top prospects (Mayo, Kjerstad) have major defensive short comings

No starting pitching has been drafted in upper rounds, there are zero pitching prospects in the pipeline. Cade Povich who does not have a single ML level pitch is in the rotation.

Jackson Holliday (see Norby trade) was rushed to the majors and is not ready

Team has played bad fundamental baseball for most of 2024 but Hyde remains in dugout

2025 looks bleak with the need for at least 3SP's, and several bullpen arms

I was willing to give the draft the bats, trade for the arms approach a chance but the ML wide shortage of pitching has made this approach and Elias a failure.

Time to move on.

I can’t bear to read 19 pages on this but your last two statements here show you are not serious. Elias is a failure and it’s time to move on. In my best John MacEnroe voice. You cannot be serious.

Plenty of room for discourse on the full scope of the Elias era but this is pathetic and absurd.
