Gaddis had given up 4 er in his last 2 innings.  It’s always tough to make decisions when your relievers are not getting the job done.  The manager looks great when your bullpen guys are getting people out but look dumb when they are not.

But he looked good tonight.

These managers are burning these relievers so much.  Then guys aren’t as sharp or even unavailable.

Its really over the top.

I agree the first round of playoffs there was very little offense in the Wild card and ALDS  but these two series has been ton of runs because the starters are nit giving you even 5 innings.

Apparently Naylor got under what would have been a 3-run HR.

Cleveland should be done, but stranger things have happened. And this NYY pitching is looking mightily suspect.

Problem is Cleveland's pitching has been suspect too. If Cleveland can get some better pitching they can push this series to 7 games because Yankees bullpen is getting hit hard.

I see Cleveland winning the next game and then the Yankees close this series out in game six back back at the Bronx.

Marcus Stroman kind of a notable example of a well-known pitcher getting deprioritized.

I learned this morning he hit his incentive in 2024 to promote his 2026 at another $18M to a player option.

Cleveland side Ben Lively gave them 150 innings of 3.80 ERA, and only got on to their ALCS roster as an injury replacement for Alex Cobb.

We'll see if either are needed today on the rare October instance of a game on a 3rd straight day.

Regular season it is almost automatic a guy is down off 2 days of work - for NYY that is Hill, Kahnle and Holmes, for CLE that is everyone in their Top 4, and also Eli Morgan.    Only Luke Weaver had yesterday off.

There is that, but I also think it’s the cumulative wear. All the pitchers hit the wall like two or three weeks ago (assuming their arm held together). The season got longer, the high leverage situations got more, and everyone is throwing like it’s the 7th game of the World Series back in April. The playoffs are now more like the Battle of the Somme than a showcase of excellence.
