Not only was he probably the greatest Major League hitter who ever lived he was a WWII combat veteran - fighter pilot and that was even more impressive and anyone who disgraces a combat veteran's remains ought to be dealt with by life in prisonment at a minimum. This is worse than setting the American flag on fire! There is no excuse whatsover for this type of behavior.

Flew prop planes in WWII and jets in Korea. ;)

Kept the pigeon population down at Fenway too.

This is wrong to do to any human. But sometimes it takes something like this happening to a celebrity to really get people's attention. Hopefully this will lead to a serious investigation of the practices at this lab...and if need be, hopefully stricter laws when dealing with human remains. Just because a person is dead doesn't mean they should be treated in such an undignified and humiliating manner.

Actually, he was a combat pilot in Korea, not WWII.

In WWII, he was a US-based flight instructor.

Correct. He was in Pearl Harbor getting ready to join the Pacific fleet when the war ended, so he never went into combat.

But supposedly he was one of the greatest pilots to ever go through training because of his vision and hand-eye coordination.
