I dont know about signability issues. We might get him at #2 because the Rays would want a pitcher they could fast track.

Yeah, only trouble might be they can move Pedro to first base. Pena might not be around when Alvarez makes his debut.

If I'm Friedman (Devil Rays GM), I draft Alvarez as he would make the lineup that much formidable and keep him away from a division rival.

I'm not too big on taking a pitcher with a top 5 pick. The memory of Ben McDonald still looms. Too many things can go horribly wrong with a young pitcher.
