Don't we usually sign half a dozen of these guys each offseason?

I like this signing - much like I liked signing Ivan Dejesus, Jr last year. Navarro was a highly regarded defensive prospect several years ago and hit well between AA and AAA in a lot of at bats the last 2 years. I think he's a keeper.

Roch mentioned the other day there was interest in him. I looked him up then and thought he might be worth giving a major league contract to. If he as turned a corner offensively the past two seasons like his statistics indicate, then he looks like a potential major leaguer. That's the key. However, even if he is just a rangy shortstop with the ability to also play second base, that has its value has a depth move. I wouldn't label him as "just another defensive wiz" however. He's displayed good power the last two seasons. He's also not too old either.

Hope they can get it done.

DD likes shortstops. Didn't he have Schoop play there even though his most likely position was 2B? I think that he feels that SS's are the most athletic of all the positions and they have the flexibilty to all positions at a pretty decent level. He must have loved Bert Campeneris (spelling???).

He's not just a SS. He's played 320 games at 2B and about 90 at 3B. That might give him a better chance than Dejesus had last season - and he's a little younger.

That be ashame. Lombardozzi never got a fair shot. I'd rather cut Flaherty and keep Lombardozzi as the utilty guy.

Lombo can't play SS. Or 3B or 2B for that matter.

He's not horrible. My main point, I don't want to lose Lombardozzi for these depth signings.

After seeing Schoop turn the dp so effectively, none of us will like seeing anyone else attempt it. Least of all Lombardozi.

I like what I saw from Lomb when it came to effort, but I think we can do better just about everywhere.

Lambardozzi had all the shots I have ever needed to see. He was here in Harrisburg in Milb and he could not defend in the minors either.
