  1. 1. Mountcastle activated (owing released) 2. Adley called up 3. Grayson up for Sunday start 4. Henderson to AAA 5. Varva activated from AAA IL (almost ready?) 6. Pierto to AA 7. Kjerstad activated (or at least some news,)
  2. As with any business, spending is going to be a product of income. The Orioles have demonstrated they can fill the stadium when the team is good. The Rays have never filled their stadium, even in their best years. I suspect once we start winning, the attendance will go up, and we will be able to spend again. Perhaps not to previous levels, but way beyond what the Rays do.
  3. After about 5 weeks of action in MILB, by and large there are a good number of things to be excited about. However a few of our top hitting prospects have scuffled a bit more than one would have liked. We can certainly hope that these slumps are temporary, but which start are you most concerned with? If other, feel free to a dd names in the comments.

I see he was removed after 3 at bats. Really hope not injury related.
  5. Save your rants for the losses - there are plenty of opportunities! Enjoy the win.
  6. He profiles a lot like Josh Hader from the limited views I have seen. Would you take that today, or take your chances with him in the rotation?
  7. Its actually amazing. Considering the pitching we are getting, we may be under performing from W/L perspective!
  8. I thought I read the number was only like 100 ip or so. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go to a 6 man rotation when Grayson and DL get up.
  9. I thought we'd be better up and down the minors this year. Aberdeen is great, but everyone else under 500. Delmarva perhaps not as surprising given the youth, but Norfolk and Bowie are surprising on the down side.
  10. So after a few weeks of games, my conclusion is that the change was a good idea but implementation is way too extreme. From both an appearance and an impact perspective. The Mets had to move the wall back in after building them too far initially. In fact they moved them in twice. I suspect we'll need to do something similar in time.
  11. Can anyone talk me down off the ledge with Westburg? Anything to take comfort in during this slump?
  12. Stowers is hitting .213 in Norfolk right now.
  13. Im excited to see him in Baltimore, but I'm not in a rush. Be OK to give him a couple weeks down there, Catch Grayson and DL a couple times each, then come up closer to end of the month.
  14. I wonder if this was the plan, or this was a weather related audible. Bowie already rained out today.
  15. I am truly shocked about the quality of pitching we have seen this year. Not sure if it's sustainable, even with the enforcements coming. The bullpen is sure to wear down over time. Zimmerman obviously will come back to earth a bit. That said they are playing much better baseball. enjoyable to watch. more like the shortened 2020 season than last year.
  16. I wouldn't;'t call any of these "truly disastrous" starts. The biggest ones to watch for me are Cowser and Westburg - while the averages are low, I think mostly the product of a couple weeks slump that can easily be rectified with a couple hot weeks. Henderson got off to a slow start, but been on fire the last couple weeks and nobody even remembers the slow start anymore. Would like to see Stowers hit for better average, but even his other numbers aren't horrible. Again, a couple hot weeks makes his numbers look a lot better. Kjerstad season hasn't started yet, so anxious for that as well. All in all, I think the org has to be pretty pleased with the progress from prospects. We'll get some good pitching prospects up this year, and then a lot of offensive options out there over the next couple years.
  17. I think playing intelligent, fundamentally sound baseball is more about the players than the manager. Most of these guys have been playing baseball for many years, most of their lives. They either understand the game or they don't. I can see this on my son's high school team. It can and does get better with age as well. And don't forget the Orioles have lately been one of the youngest teams in baseball, with castoffs from other team making up a good potion of the roster. It's also amazing how the more talented players usually make smarter plays. l Can the manager have an impact? Of course. But again it's more about the players. And as the orioles start to bring up their own high draft picks, who have lots of talent and good instincts, I bet they start playing better baseball.
  18. that .447 on base is pretty, pretty nice.
  19. 2023 rotation could be G-Rod, Bradish, Means (by mid-season), Hall and Zimmerman. Next year! Definitely could kick this rebuilding into a higher gear.
  20. See he left the game early.....hopefully easing him back in and not injury!

I'd like to see him skip all the way to Norfolk when he's healthy.
  22. I think Odor is safe (for now) for one reason - he's left handed. Once we have more lefty options for the lineup he'll be gone. We should have Rutschman soon. If we trade Mancini and replace with Stowers that's another, but probably all we get until guys like Henderson, Cowser, Kjerstad are ready.
  23. Surprised to see Kevin Smith on your list of candidates. ErA is good, but only 9 Ks's with 9 BBs in 14 innings makes me nervous. That walk rate needs to come back to earth to make him a legit option.
  24. I think it'll be guitierez and wings.
