  1. While I love the potential of the team, they are just not playing great baseball right now. They are hitting, but pitching and defense has been very subpar. I'm prepared to be disappointed until they start playing better.
  2. I was able to pick up Mateo in my Yahoo rotisserie league. He's currently the #2 rated player in all of baseball behind Acuna.
  3. Been thinking about 2nd base and we got a serious logjam here. Frazier - regular starter Urias - utillity infeilder, backup at second among other spots coming off a gold glove season Vavra - 2nd base is primary position, MLB roster and just gets on base. Westburg - first man up from minors? If long term plan for O's it's probably at 2B considering other options at 3rd and SS. Ortiz - 2nd man up? SS ready, but where does he fit in an IF with Henderson, Westeburg, Mayo (not to mention Mateo). Norby! Only led the Orioles MiLB in homers and off to a great start in AAA. Prieto - big international signing last year, appears very capable at 23 years old. That's at least 7 guys that are legitimate MLB players or prospects or better. Feel bad for Norby - he deserves a shot I just don't see how it happens in Baltimore.
  4. What did the old one look like? Would be intersting to see side by side photos. I've noted that the Mets and Phillies at minimum have put in massive new video boards. This one doesn't look much different to me.
  5. Looks like he's playing 1B in minor league camp. Be a great way to find our LH hitting 1B.
  6. Very curious to see the impact of the new rules on stolen bases league wide. And these are 2 of the fastest guys in the league so I think their steals will rise proportionally to the rest of the league.
  7. The nice thing going in to this year is that I feel there are many more ways things can go right than things can go wrong.
  8. I think the biggest replacement level gap we have is 1B. Maybe even more than C.
  9. I'm worried the expectations on Gunner are too high. He's so young - could easily feel the pressure and get off to slow start, sent back down, etc. Let's not anoint him RoY already.
  10. The biggest development of the season will be the sale of the team.
  11. Orioles are the first team listed here. We'd have him for 2 years before he hits free agency. https://calltothepen.com/2023/02/05/3-potential-max-fried-trade-destinations-atlanta-braves/?utm_source=flipboard&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=flipboard DL Hall and Westburg? What would it be worth to you?
  12. That requires a big assumption that everyone stays healthy.
  13. Assuming Gunner starts the season in B'more, if he wins ROY do we get an extra pick?
  14. What a very disappointing offseason. Other than a major trade for a SP, the only thing that will save it is an announcement that the team has been sold.
  15. The team is creating a huge dependency on many of the young players taking a step forward. I don't think it's realistic to assume that all of our young guys, as talented as they are, will improve upon last year. I think that is going to be required to be a playoff team.
  16. I genuinely feel that the Orioles are preparing to be sold. while at the end of the season he thought he woudl have the resources, as discussions of selling have progressed he is now being asked not to do anything of any length or consequence.
  17. The other thing that caught my attention is that all 3 of these guys are known to be great clubhouse guys. Elias definitely appreciates clubhouse chemestry.
  18. He's just coming back from TJ. But young and dominant. I would do the Mullins-May trade in a heartbeat, and I'm not even one of those looking to trade Mullins. Hays/Cowser CF would be fine.
  19. Why not just pick up the option on Lyles? These guys are identical, no? At least you know Lyles was a great fit in the clubhouse.
  20. If I were GM this board would roast me for not being aggressive enough. But I wouldn't spend a lot of $$ on offense. I woudl take 1B/DH guy like Abrau, 2 big starters - Rodon (gotta love the lefty in this park now) and Basset. Potentially a bullpen guy. I'd extend Adley and be prepared to extend Gunner during the year.
  21. I'd be surprised if someone took a rule 5 guy as a backup catcher. Very few carry 3 catchers, and it really constrains flexibility if you can't count on your backup.
  22. If it takes the #1 pick in the draft 6 seasons to get to the majors, it's a fail.
  23. My bet is on Westburg as the big prospect name to go. He's a big time prospect that could bring back a big time established player, and we can easily fill the infield without him.
  24. Starting with current 40 man. I see at least 10 spots we can clear pretty easily; Marked with "no" next to the name. Pitchers Akin Baker Baumann Bautista Bradish Yennier Cano - no Anthony Castro - no Chris Ellis (IL-60) Logan Gillaspie DL Hall Louis Head - no Joey Krehbiel Dean Kremer Jordan Lyles John Means (IL-60) Cionel Perez Jake Reed - no Beau Susler - no Dillon Tate Chris Vallimont Nick Vespi Austin Voth Spenser Watkins Tyler Wells Bruce Zimmerman Cathers Robinson Chirinos - no Cam Gallagher - no Adley Rutschman Infield Gunner Henderson Jorge Mateo Tyler Nevin Rougned Odor - no Ramon Urias Terrin Vavra Jesus Aguilar - no Outfield Yusniel Diaz - no Austin Hays Ryan McKenna Ced Mullins Anthony Santander Kyle Stowers
