  1. Great contributions at the MLB level from top prospects this year....Adley, Gunner of course, but Stowers, Vavra playing big roles. But look what is still on the way....and soon! Great seasons from Westburg, Norby, Ortiz, Cowser, who all finish the season at AAA with OPS > .800 on the season. Then we have Coby Mayo and Hunter Haskin at Bowie. Krjstad wasn't great at Aberdeen, but his slash line for the season was still .309/394/457/851 on the year. That's at least 7 very high end hitting prospects before you even get into the great debuts from several of the 2022 class. Honestly I know people want to go for it in 2023, but I don't think we need to spend big money on free agent bats. Much rather invest any increased salary $$ in pitching
  2. tremendous season for Norby. Will start next year at 22 years old, banging not he door to the MLB.
  3. I think the big question that need too be answered is how much do the Orioles believe in Mateo. If they see him as the answer for the next 2-3 years at least, I see them including Westburg in a trade for a TOR pitcher. 2nd base gets filled by Vavra or Norby, or Urias next year. Then Mateo in place until Holliday is ready.
  4. Interesting in that Wells was out best starter for a good portion of the year, but no votes so far.
  5. These 3 guys have all found some success in the rotation this year and could be key to our hopes for next year. Who has the best chance to take the next step in 2023?
  6. I'm picking Westburg as the prospect most likely to be traded this winter.
  7. I suspect we will start trading guys this winter who are nearing the majors without a spot, which could un-clog some of the positions. I think Westburg is a prime trade candidate. Cowser may be as well, unless we trade Hays or Santander. Likely for pitching, but I could see us trading Hays and Santander then looking to find a MOO bat as a corner OF or DH.
  8. We could have Wells and G. Rod on this team by next weekend. Things sure have changed since this thread was last used last season.
  9. 2ip, 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 bb's, 4K's tonight. Good to see him get back on track.
  10. Ha - I'll settle for 2 out of 3 this week.
  11. lets see what we have in Vavra. 3 walks tonight - all good, professional at bats. I was impressed.
  12. I don't think we would need to increase payroll significantly to field a winning team for the next few years. I think it will creep up slowly to respectable levels through extensions and a few better pitching signings. If we are blessed to need to give a huge extension to Adley or Mountie or someone like that, it won't be for at least a few years.
  13. For those folks clamoring for an IF with Gunner, Westburg and Vavra, I"m not sure what you plan to do with Urias and Mateo. These guys are crushing it both offensively and defensively.
  14. Trey to Astros. https://twitter.com/danconnolly2016/status/1554201486032310272?s=20&t=-0Ml7Dl3sep34bad2aG8TQ
  15. part of development is getting used to dealing with changes to routine and other unexpected conditions. No issue with that. He just needs to perform.
  16. This is the first time since Bonds went for 73 that I see a player that looks like he can crush any pitch thrown.
  17. They may need to hire more vendors and food service to keep pace!

    Jorge Mateo

Mateo hitting .260 in July, and his speed and defense impact the game in ways that aren't always seen in the box score.

    Coby Mayo 2022

    Still not back....sigh.
  20. During the 3/4 day all-star break when no MLB games were being played, perhaps baseball fans would give some attention to the minor league games. But no, there are no minor league games this week either. I can understand not playing on Tuesday during the actual AS game, but why no games on Wed or Thurs? Would have loved to watch a game or at least have some box scores to check.
  21. I'd like to see Vavra get a few weeks of full time action at 2nd before they bring up Henderson and/or Westburg.
  22. I do wonder if Hall could have more success working on his command issues in the majors. Working with the Oriole pitching coaches, having him connected with Lyles etc. It may be as much about approach (trying to strike everyone out) as ability and he may get better guidance in the majors.
  23. Wagner might be a slight underslot. Maybe a couple of these prep pitchers will still be around later tonight, and if so maybe we'll draft them and pay overslot. or not.
  24. agree with all of this. Look forward to seeing Vavra in the bigs soon.
