I'm really glad Elias called out these guys yesterday. At least one of them (plus Lowther and Wells) really need to step up. They are/have all been given some good opportunities and we need to hit on one or 2. Personally I still have a lot of hope for Baumann and really really want him to get the best shot this season from this group. I also think we need to check out Kremer again. His arm is too good to give up on and I fear another Jake Arrieta awakening. Zimmerman can take the #5 spot in the rotation until the GRod/Hall/Bradish group is ready. Personally I'm done with Akin (how does this guy continue to come to camp in such bad shape with the opportunities he has been given).

So we may need to clear some 40 man spots soon....hope we will need to add: 1. Owings 2. Nottingham 3. Adley? If they can preserve the opportunity to get an extra pick if he finishes top 3 ROY, they should put him on the ML Injured List, send him out on 2 weeks rehab and then call him up. my preferences for removal: 1. Odor 2. Akin 3. Bannon? I hope they do keep Owings over Odor, but that seems like an easy 1:1 swap. IF they want to keep Martin, it might be at the expense of someone like Nevin but I don't see that happening, so makes Martin's chances tougher. They do need to keep a 2nd catcher at least, so that' where it gets difficult. Akin or Bannon? Other candidates? Note: I may be totally misreading how this works but this is just my 10 minute analysis.

So if he starts the year on the ML injured list, would the Orioles still qualify for the additional picks if he comes in top 3 in ROY voting as per new CBA? They could start him on the ML injured list and send him to Norfolk for 2 weeks on a rehab assignment.

So who does the team give those press credentials to? It's in the Orioles best interest to have more press coverage than less - essentially free advertising. Think Tony already has credentials? But hopefully the Orioles will distribute to other upstart, entrepenuering individuals who can provide additional insights.

I know it's early, but I'm kinda over Akin and have no interest in seeing him on the roster. He's always out of shape and can't throw strikes. Frankly, as soon as they need a 40 man spot I'd be fine with a DFA.

I'm torn to be honest. If they aren't going to sign Correa and the ilk, I'd rather see our own young guys. one could argue it's being prudent rather than cheap. I just would like to understand other ways the org could demonstrate commitment through investment, but of course there are caps on amatuer spending. Maybe hire more scouts? Wouldn't mind seeing a few of the young guys like Mountcastle and Adley get locked up.
