I am willing to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon if you can come up with a reason they would be doing it intentionally.

Maybe because the O's arent fading like most thought, and Detroit and Angels arent picking it up like everyone thought. MLB doesnt want Omar Quentinilla and Nate McClouth in the postseason. They want Pujols, Fielder, Trout, and Cabrera. They dont want Miguel Gonzalez and Wei Yin Chen. They want Weaver, Verlander, Wilson, and Grienke. Its all about the ratings. They wont have Ny and Bis, and they cant afford the O's to be in it. I have no proof of any of this ;)

And yet the Rays keep making it in...

Tongue and cheek post..thought the wink gave that away. But, the Rays are the darlings. The underdogs that keeps defying the odds. That makes for good ratings. The O's havent been getting that kind of publicity. Besides, their game 1 starter would be David Price..ours probably Chen. Whos the household name?

I know you were not making a serious accusation, I just tossed the Rays out there in case someone reading it was taking you seriously.

I think "the luckiest team in MLB history" making the playoffs would be a good story myself. You also have the DD redemption angle and the Buck angle.

They could do worse then Baltimore.

I agree, the Orioles would be a great story. I just dont think mlb is that interested in it. As for the umps, seems theyve had it in for us since the Alomar spitting incident. Not saying theyre holding a grudge, but it is a circle of mediocracy, so who knows.

And how cool would it be for the Orioles, with DD as gm, to win the world series, in the same year the red sox ship sunk?

Bump.

After the O's last night I switched over to MLB Tonight, and they cut into the Nats game. Harper grounded into a double play, threw his helmet down as he passed first base on a full sprint, and the ump rang him up! Tossed him. This was even LESS of an issue than Reynolds throwing his glove down, and the ump tossed him. Its REALLY getting crazy! The umps need accountability. Harper had two homers in the game, and the Nats were up 4 in the 8th, but still, there's no telling what losing Harper may have done to the game. These umpires are figgin terrible!

Buckner, Laz D. Ass, Country Joe, Balkin Bob, Angel of Squeeze, Angel of Compost. Crapapozzo. Names we should not know. :angryfire::cussing:

Somewhere along the way, umps got it in their thick skulls that fans pay to see them.

I was watching highlights of the Angels game, and the 1b umpire walked almost the hole way to home to argue with Pujols. That was after the 1b umpire made the call that Pujols foul tipped the ball into the catchers glove apparently.

I think it was the Naked Gun. I'm only half joking.

These are professional players. They should not be throwing their gloves and helmets around. Kids are watching. This is the national pastime. Do you want to see kids throwing gloves and helmets around in little league.

Accountability. I am glad the umpires are doing this. No excuse for these things to happen. Be a role model.

    • Did we ? You can’t possibly know that. Apparently, Elias got a player he thought he could fix.  Sorry but I just don’t think Rogers is as good as Irvin with his diminished stuff. I think he’s essentially a throw away. It would be wise to extend Eflin now while we still can. That way the resources used to get him can actually provide some long term value. Dominguez was an ok pickup…I don’t hate the deal. Problem is we needed a closer and he’s isn’t that. Thankfully Bautista is returning and will push him down the depth chart a slot or two. Soto ….Agreed, you bring him back if you can’t find a better option. I expect them to keep him. Otherwise, giving up Seth Johnson with our minors pitching quality shortage looks like a bad decision  Eloy didn’t cost much …. My general thought is pick ups like him didn’t matter beyond how you grade those acquisitions on a team that “Really Wanted to Win”. I question this because none of the guys that we picked up where having good seasons elsewhere. My thoughts are the same for Rivera …. He was a 563 OPS in Miami but got hot here and was a .948 here. His career OPS is .676 so his stint here is probably not repeatable. His projected arb number is 1.4 million so they likely keep him around as a piece and he’s young enough that maybe the change in scenery caused the light to come on.   By the way … here’s a piece from Roch about sone of these guys.   https://www.masnsports.com/blog/taking-another-look-at-orioles-roster-decisions
    • This has to count as one of the, if not the, biggest choke in ALCS history. Up 5-3 with two outs and no one on in the ninth, after you came back from 1-3 in the eight, with a chance to put a lock on the series.
    • Reverse jinx works again! 😆 🥳
    • Clay Holmes' agent could have used the season ending a good couple months ago. It was nice seeing a chink in Luke Weaver's armor.    Gunnar Henderson v. Anthony Volpe is kind of a centerpiece of Mike Elias mostly out-General Managing Brian Cashman the last half decade, but Luke Weaver v. Craig Kimbrel is not a good chapter and flipping those two guys might have changed the 2024 division.
    • I have all sorts of credit cards that charge interest because they provide me with tens of thousands of dollars in free interest. That said, I never pay interest, because I always pay off the balance each month.
    • My friend and I each had flex plans. Him $2500 and me $1300. Neither of us renewed. Are schedules are too difficult to commit to a set plan and the lack of perks for the lower-tier set plans and flex plans make it not worth letting the Os earn the float on our money.
    • I was going to post Ride the Lighting from Metallica but decided not to. I now regret that decision.
