HHP: Reporting from Fanfest

Did anyone get pictures with the players this year? I know they were charging $5.00 but all went to charity. The woman went wild when they heard Brady was coming to take pictures. Bingo was cool. Britton was funny calling out the numbers. Gausman was their for awhile and was calm and reserved. Gausman seemed tall and lanky. Nice guy. Just remember when it is packed for nest year, bingo is a place you can sometimes get an autograph. If you win even better. The woman who won the one bingo card brought up the whole family for a picture with Gausman. The line for free giveways was insane after 12:00. it stretched all the way down the corridor. The Geico and MASN booths were also packed. Getting a free Gecko is almost like getting an autograph from Palmer. Also free Esskay coupons are the best.

Great stuff guys. Maybe once my son gets out of high school wrestling I'll be able to make one of these things again. Super job by many in this thread, thanks for sharing.

You DO know that after he finishes up, he'll have a contract with Vinnie Mac up in Stanford right?!

Whatcha gonna do Brother! :D

:scratchchinhmm: Very interesting.

Can anyone find the extremely small sample size of how he did vs RHBs as a reliever? Double filtering isn't an option on any sites I've visited.

I did this by hand one day. RHB were 0 for 17 off Matusz as a reliever, with 2 BB.

See, my experience was different. I was in that same line (Teagarden, Johnson, Tillman ~~ thank you weams for getting me the voucher), and upon offering one of the T-shirts to be signed, I said thanks to him for all he did for us last year, for being willing to just come in whenever and do whatever we needed from him.

His reply? "Thank YOU all for coming out!"

I don't know, that didn't seem to me like he didn't want to be there.

Btw, he also looked pretty fine in his dress-up duds. :002_scool:

You did get a scoop on the Schoop Netherlands question after all. It seems he was considering not playing over knee pain and he decided that he was fit. Good stuff. You had it a a full day before the press.

Jonesy just seems so Hollywood to me now, but I don't blame him. Bigger fan base both personally and from a team perspective, but he used to be SO cool, so I guess there lies my disappointment.

I felt the same thing. Huge fan of his since he got here and have followed him on Twitter. I asked him a question about something he tweeted and he didn't really answer. Just signed and the lady next to him said something for him. I was totally taken aback and he just looked like he could care less. Granted this was the 3:20 time slot so maybe he was exhausted by then. But it really was a disappointment to me considering his personality on TV and twitter.

Said some things to Chris Davis, Matusz, Gonzo, Hoiles, and Jones. Oh and Zack Clark (didn't know much about). All but Jones answered and were nice enough. Gonzo was really appreciative when I told him how happy I was that he had such a great year. Davis was friendly though a bit rushed. Hoiles was really friendly. I told him how I recently watched the first game from OPACY on MASN and he hit a double to drive in the first run. Nice guy and he signed two things for me without me asking.

Honestly though being 27 now, this wasn't the same as the last time I went when they had a Fanfest in DC. I was about 19-20 at the time and went with my youngest brother who was 14 or so. Much cooler to meet the players when they were all older than me. In the future I'd skip the autographs as it was too much standing in line.

    • They’ve added a handful of additional receivers in the UDFA class https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/rumor-mill-ravens-undrafed-free-agent-tracker-2024-nfl
    • Didn't see today's game in it's entirety but I will say this.  I feel 100% more confident with Mateo playing second and turning  a DP rather than JH right now.  JH will be fine there.  In time.   But even forgetting his hitting, D wise he just isn't there yet.   And yes I know the metrics say he is fine.  But to me, using the eye test, he looked very shaky fielding and throwing,
    • I like Kevin.  He is constantly improving.  My only beef is that he doesn't seem to understand that a foul ball isn't always out of play.   A ball can be hit foul, but still be in the field of play.
    • My preferred day 3 WR would have been Troy Franklin, but he apparently had a bad combine on positional drills (which might have been because he had the flu.)  And he got picked by Denver pretty early.   Devontez Walker is kind of intriguing.  He's 6'2", barely.   A bit on the skinny side but ran in the mid-4.3s.  His route tree is pretty limited, mostly short quickouts/slants and go/post routes. But he's really good at the deep routes.  Sort of a discount DK.  He's reported to have good hands and good deep ball tracking ability as well.  We have to see how that translates in the pro game.
    • Adley looks way more energized and McCann is veteran catcher who is good defensively and handles the pitchers well.  Doesn't really make sense to wear Adley out when the O's are using him at the top of the lineup.
    • Just seems like a more controlled swing from the right side, shorter, flatter.
    • He was signed in the Covid year when they only had a 5 round draft, which is why he was undrafted.  Was showing promise bur tore his UCL in 2022.  Pitched a little last year, this is his first full year back.  Nice to see the good outing.
