Peralta isn't for LF. It's either to quicken the McLouth negotiations or backup for a Hardy trade, and Baltimore doesn't want to make Hardy think he is being dealt by bringing in a SS/3B, instead we are trying to sign Peralta to play "LF"

Well, hopefully Hardy doesn't open this thread then! ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING!!!!

This thread is getting funnier by the minute.

MLBTR projected that Peralta would get 3/30. Then they said he was looking for 3/45. Now they are reporting he wants 4/56 or 5/75..............meanwhile the O aren't sure they want to pay their LFer 2/10,

Does anyone think that the O's and Peralta live on the same planet?

The more I think about it the more this seems like someone somewhere blowing smoke to try and stir the pot. I think if Duquette heard that asking price he'd bode farewell and look elsewhere. Not to mention he doesn't play LF. I think we are all hearing a load of steamy (vegetables). Maybe Peraltas agent trying to get the Yankees or Mets on the edge of their seats and be inclined to do the deal Peralta wants. Otherwise why would we want a PED guy at premium prices at a less valuable position? Doesn't sit right with me....

But is his wife pregnant?

He did not marry her yet. Did he?

Sometimes it just pays to be famous. You really can get away with a lot of things that us regular folk can not. Primary example of this is how JJ Hardy's fiance Adrienne Acton and how they met.

Acton is a former softball player at the University of Arizona. While she was playing at the College World Series in 2007, Hardy happened to catch a game on TV. Clearly smitten by Acton, he called the school the next day and arranged a meeting. I mean, are you kidding me? That never works. But for Hardy, the ballsy move payed off and the couple appears happily engaged... although we are not sure when the happy day is scheduled for.

LOL. Exactly. The Tigers passed on offering him 1/14 and he's wanting 5/75?!

    • I think he’s just awful right now. I hope Elias isn’t overly stubborn on this. Admit defeat and clear Kimbrel and his $12 million off this roster.
    • Doesn’t look to a  sound defensive player to me.
    • Yeah ….totally agree! We can cut Kimbrel loose and acquire another closer.
    • Opportunity Cost and the importance of dry powder...  Also makes me wonder how Cease was valued...
    • I feel like plays like these have been a part of his entire tenure here. He has the speed but not the mental game. I expect him to be gone once Hays is ready.
    • The Orioles have gone 103 consecutive RS series without being swept, spanning 322 games including series of: 2 G: 8 times 3 G: 75 4 G: 19 5 G: 1 If the games were decided by coin flip, the odds of this occurring randomly would be approximately 1 in 785,670. In addition, the Orioles have now staved off a sweep in a regular-season series finale 13 times: 5/19/22 NYY 9-6 6/22/22 Was 7-0 7/3/22 Min 3-1 9/18/22 Tor 5-4 9/21/22 Det 8-1 5/28/23 Tex 3-2 6/8/23 Mil 6-3 6/18/23 ChC 6-3 7/2/23 Min 2-1 7/19/23 LAD 8-5 8/10/23 Hou 5-4 4/14/24 Mil 6-4 5/8/24 Was 7-6 It's amazing that they've gone 13-0 in such games, but it might be even more impressive (qualitatively, because the assumptions of defining a non-coin-flip model are truly daunting) that they've only gone to a win-or-be-swept finale 13 times when expectation by coin flip would be 25.1875.
    • The money is sunk at this point, but I don't think any polar answer is optimal here.  Bullpen by committee until someone emerges.  It's a little more difficult with the 3-batter rule, but that's how they need to roll and I credit Hyde for being ready with the quick hook for the last 10 days or so.
