Also Young, Pearce and Reimold has not done that well vs lefties in ST. Adams is killing lefties this spring.

If I read through three threads, I'll probably make this point three times.

So what!? People put way too much emphasis on spring training stats.

Hmm! I wonder if the Orioles will turn their attention to Jose Mijares as a closer candidate since he

has opted out of his Red Sox contract.

From CBS ...

Reliever Jose Mijares has opted out of his minor-league deal with the Red Sox, a source told FOX Sports. Mjiares had a 5.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in six relief appearances this spring.

The O's signed Brett Wallace too? The folks at Norfolk must love Duquette. With Adams probably at 3B and Wallace at 1B/DH (Marrero also at 1B/DH), there are going to be some good AAAA players who can't even make that team. If Schoop plays 2B and Adams is at 3B, where does that leave Cord Phelps, De Jesus Jr. and Casilla? If he OF is Xavier Paul, Quintin Berry, and Urrutia, where does that leave Borbon?

Amen, but IMHO Dejesus and Cord Phrlps aren't major leaguers.

Casilla is blah to me.

Completely agree though. Lots and lots of talent, someone will have to be cut.

Sorry, it makes no sense that Adams is currently on a minor league contract. He was claimed off waivers by the Orioles. He didn't pass through waivers. There is a big difference. Why did the O's have to clear De La Cruz off the roster to make room for Adams if Adams wasn't on a major league contract.

From MLBTR.com:

The Orioles have claimed David Adams from the Indians on outright waivers, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian tweets. The move clears space on the Indians' 40-man roster for infielder Elliot Johnson. The Orioles have announced that, to make room on their roster for Adams, they have designated pitcher Kelvin De La Cruz for assignment. De La Cruz, 25, posted a 2.67 ERA with 11.2 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in the high minors of the Dodgers system in 2013. The lefty was out of options.

We are really starting to use AAA the way the Yankees always have. As a shadow roster.

Good point. DD has certainly changed the way the Orioles use their AAA team. In the past, the Orioles were never into paying for these kinds of guys.

Rotoworld said that De La Cruz was suffering from a hamstring injury and that didn't give him a chance to make the team.

A hamstring injury limited De La Cruz this spring, never giving him a chance to make the club in a bullpen role. The left-hander was removed from the 40-man roster to make room for David Adams, whom the O's claimed off waivers from the Indians.

Almanzar fouled a ball off his kneecap. So it might just be because of that.

Adams is on the 40-man major league roster, but since he has options left, they sent him to minor league camp - there is no need to send him through waivers. He won't be on the 25-man roster.

De La Cruz was on the major league roster and had no options left, so they had to DFA him.
