I took that into consideration when I used 60 percent as my estimate.

Also, when I visited Fenway Park twice in 1993, the Orioles were contending for the division title, while the Red Sox were having a bad year. They (the Red Sox fans) weren't very hospitable.

When I went there in September of 2009, I was treated better.

I suspect that because we were in the process of finishing out our 12th consecutive losing season in 2009, that "better treatment" was because I was looked upon as a "loveable loser" ...... whereas in 1993, that was not the case.

In my paranoid mind that smells of phoniness.

I actually rooted for them in the 2004 ALCS because I had pity for them. For me, the Yankees are always going to be my most number one hated but the past decade have moved the Sox into a close second.

What would it be?

There is just so much about this franchise that makes me grind my teeth it's hard for me to choose. What say you?

My question is why worry about them. Doesn't the pink hats have to do with the

fight against breast cancer? Beards are a personal thing so I don't care either way

I don't hate the BoSox or anyone else for that matter. At my age I can't afford to

hate someone. Don't want The Lord asking me why I hated when I stand before

Him.

Last nights loss was a tough one to lose. But those things happen. That's the way

baseball is. Maybe some of their fans acted nutty. But that's the way some fans

are. If the game had been in Baltimore and I could have been there and the O's

came back to win I would have been cheering my head off. IMO

Lose the freaking beards already!

We get it! Your hipster beards are cool and quirky, but now that everyone is doing it, no one cares.

P.S. Nothing against the original beard wearing guys out there! This is purely a Red Sox hate thing.

Pedroia.

As a baseball fan, I love the guy. As an Oriole fan, I can't stand to see him come to the plate. I always expect to see him standing on first or second at the end of his AB every time up no matter who he's facing. Infuriating. Because of him I never take a lead against the Red Sox for granted.

He's #1 on my list of players I don't want at the plate vs. the O's. Such a great player though - and he sets the tone for the entire team, top to bottom - culture, play, etc.

I'd just put the entire fanbase in a giant time machine and send them all back to 2003, so that they could revert to being the self-deprecating woobies that they once were. They were much more tolerable then.

I don't have to look at the numbers. I can see with my eyes. Pedroia is the single toughest out the

Orioles face over the course of a season.Hell of a baseball player. The new Jeter.

I agree. I know the numbers will prove me wrong but he seems like the toughest out in baseball. The guy just doesn't give up and puts up good ABs even when he makes an out. Just look at the 9th inning today and yesterday, he couldn't be denied.

    • I’m not trying to do some hot take. I’m just saying that I don’t see how Povich cracks this rotation over the next two seasons, and I dont think his relief profile is better than the LH relievers we have. So therefore I think his best value to us would be a trade to a 2nd division/rebuilding club.  But all of this is just my opinion. And if people want to disagree that’s welcome. It’s a discussion board. If anyone thinks my opinion is a hot take, or it rubs then wrong personally, or goes against the group think, well that’s more on them.  We’re all allowed to have opinions. Nothing personal. I love the winning and the new posters, but a simple differing opinion shouldn’t result in neg reps or devolving into Facebook level posts.  I appreciate the discussion. Heck, sell me on Povich. Where does he fit in on our roster through 2025?
    • He can still have an impact on this team as an optionable reliever. He’d probably not get above relief option any way on this year’s team and maybe that’s what best for him long term given his injury history. However, we do lose Burnes and Means after this season.  Wells and Suarez are at least options to start next season.
    • It’s funny that we always make such a big deal about service time and getting the extra year, and avoiding super two, but oddly the players closest to FA are the ones struggling on our team other than Burnes. Means, Santa, Hays, and Mullins. If Mayo can play some 3B/RF then there is a role for him on this team to replace McKenna. When Hays is ready to come back we can reevaluate things to see who would go. I’d like to see Mayo’s bat vs the LHP the next two games in the small park.
    • Definitely gotta respect Irvin. He seems like a guy that is willing to do whatever to win. This isn’t the first dominant stretch of his career. He was leading the AL in ERA at the all star break in 2022.
    • Count me as so one who wants to see this as well.  Suarez looks like something to me.  The bullpen suddenly looks promising.
    • According to the MLB standings, The Red Sox are only 6-12 against teams that are better than .500. Shockingly (I know this is about the AL East), but the maybe the AL East isn't presently the beast it usually is. The Central which has been lousy for a while appears to be much stronger. All but one team are over .500. Big change.
    • Yep, Holliday is still scuffling a bit.  Mayo is going to have to kick down the door for him to push Westburg.  There have got to be teams out there looking to poach Norby.  Can’t imagine he is still here at the deadline.
