Rosenthal Reporting Bedard Deal is Official

I am glad this is finally done, a great return for a great pitcher.

Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are potentially 2/3 rds of an All-Star Outfield; Sherril I would think becomes our closer instantly and the additions of Tillman, Butler and Mickolio to the other arms in our developmental system give us even more reason for hope.

As for Seattle fans, you kept Brandon Morrow off the table and built a staff of Bedard, Hernandez, Silva, Washburn and Batista which is darn good. Bedard and Hernandez twice in a 7 game series is an awful nice thought too.

As for Andy MacPhail, say what you will, but with two trades he has brought in ten prospects, some ML ready, to a system that clearly needed an infusion from top to bottom.

Just going over the photos of our new O's that were posted on the Sun's site.

He looks like a pitcher! I really like all I have read up about Tillman and I think I like him more than Jones in this deal.

I hope he fulfills his potential.

Loewen, Spoone, Tillman, Arrieta, and Patton. I would really like that rotation.

All of this cheering and whooping it up reminds me of the scene in Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith when Palpatine changes the Senate into the "First Galactic Empire" and Padme says something to the effect of..."So this is how democracy ends...with the sound of applause."

.

NERD ALERT!

Kidding.

Nice that you think Tillman will be good, but I'm about 99% sure the picture is Butler.

I was literally seconds away from posting this, but i can never remember how to do the pictures. What an awful uniform.

Me too but couldn't figure it out. And to think Fred Lynn said it was hard to feel like a respectable ballplayer with a duck on your cap. A new uniform has got to help Butler.

Finally this saga ends!!! I was literally getting nauseous every day coming on here and seeing that the trade hadn't been completed yet.

Can only help but not to think about the future now, because it's upon us. Excited to see what Adam Jones will do and eventually Tillman and Butler.

This is a big day as an O's fan because it seems finally we do have a sense of a plan going forward to get this team back to playing baseball. It's not all the way there yet, I'd still like to see us trade Roberts and find someone to take Mora and Gibbons, but a damn good start nonetheless.

By the way, what time does the Hot Stove report come on tonight?

Yes, but does the name Tony Butler really sound like a good pitcher? I have my doubts. Sorta like Hayden Penn. I mean Hayden Penn? Come on.

I'm interested in what Twins fans and pundits think of the haul vs Johan Santana? (I do realize that Santana only had a year left on his deal, he had a no trade clause, would only go to the east coast and would only allow a trade prior to sprint training). I think the average, not as informed Twinkie fans' responses might be hilarious to read.

I agree. A new day has dawned for the Baltimore Orioles.

Even with all the younguns and minus Tejada and Bedard, I'm NOT CONVINCED this year's team will be worse than last year's team.
