He's owed 3/75 so they'd have to eat 35-45 million. He's been a 700 OPS guy the last few seasons. If it happened he'd be my DH to protect his health. And the asking price in players would have to be modest. I don't see it happening although he'd be an adequate replacement for Cruz if he rebounds.

It's not 3/75. I believe the remaining numbers are 2015: $26m, 2016&2017: $32m. It was substantially backloaded.

Is that what they ate on Kemp? Yeah that's sizable. I still feel like it's fairly rare. Or comes with strings attached (i.e.: grandma hips). I think it's not a great idea to depend on these kind of bad contracts to be the core of your team.

In the case of the O's, I can't remember the last time we inherited a bad contract that the other team paid for.

Cubs ate 10 million when they traded Sosa to the O's in 2005.

A source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick the Cubs will be responsible for about $10 million of Sosa's $17 million contract in 2005. The Associated Press reported sources said Sosa would agree to void his salary in 2006.

Rangers ate 3 million in 2009 when they traded the O's Millwood.
