If the O's are buyers, what do they buy?

We just bought one he's in AAA dominating.

Also-I have posted this several times but nobody seems to take it seriously: Oliver Drake has dominant reverse splits. He holds lefties to like a .120 average. Why do we need a leftie specialist when we have Cebral, Wright, McFarland and Drake?

The fact Matusz is still here is a joke.

I don't know if we're buyers or sellers, but I'd love to get another Joe Gunkel type. We have a numbers game that I think is between Young and Lough. I'd prefer to keep Lough, but I'd trade Lough for another Gunkel. I think it's important to keep both Pierce and Snider.

Its not going to be between Young and Lough, Young is not plus defender and can't play CF.

If we added one of a Kershaw, Gordon, or Stanton. We'd be in business. If we added all three we'd never lose. But we can't afford any of these so we'll have to make do with spare parts.

LOL-that's pretty funny.

Duquette on acquistion cited Miller's strikeout ability specifically last year, I imagine this year's strategy is similar.

It's blunt, but you can probably make a reasonable preference list just looking at reliever K/9 among possible sellers.

Today I'd say that's BOS, CHW, OAK, MIA, PHI, CIN, MIL, COL, SD, ARZ, and list would be:

15.7 Chapman/CIN

13.3 Kimbrel/SD

13.3 Putnam/CHW

11.8 Smith/MIL

11.2 Logan/COL

10.5 Papelbon/PHI

10.3 Perez/ARZ

10.2 Uehara/BOS - last year's partner, Koji didn't burn any bridges

9.8 Scribner/OAK

9.8 K-Rod/MIL - been there, done that, won't be rerun

9.3 DeFratus/PHI

8.6 Clippard/OAK

8.6 Tazawa/BOS

8.5 Dunn/MIA

8.4 Duke/CWS

8.0 Benoit/SD

If manager shift sparks Padres, Kimbrel will come off market but he might be in mix with Chapman if the team continues to scuffle.

Those two are the obvious top tier.

Beyond this year, Kimbrel signed for 2/25. Chapman has Arb3 club control next season and figures to set RP arb records.

That's the market I see us in. We can't afford much 2.50 FIP and what we can we aim to have in the late innings.

Smith from MIL would be a very nice little steal as he wouldn't cost that much.

Valid point - though I'm not sure Jones is going to get another day off for the rest of the season.

Nope, you want to see AJ stay healthy all season. If I was Buck, I might be tempted to DH AJ and let Lough play another game in CF. Mainly, I really want AJ back and 100%, he had a couple of nicks going on and glad it wasn't worse.

Lefities are hitting .184/.244/.263 off him and he has a 14/2 KK/BB ratio.

Matusz is doing his job as a LOOGY just fine.

    • I'm a big fan.  It doesn't mean I have sources in the clubhouse. Do we have any idea who her sources are?  Does she have any kind of track record of having reliable sources?
    • I don't know who this woman is and I don't do Twitter. And this is what I touched on in the other thread: I don't know what the best path forward is b/c I don't know exactly what the problem is. I don't think Hyde needs to go, but if this is true- and I have no idea if it is or not- he should be gone. The talk of veteran leaders brings questions.  What was insufficient of the leadership of Satandaner, Mullins, Burnes, and Kimbrel?
    • Sig for me is notably rigorous trying to combat this.    I feel pretty sure he had a say in crafting his very geeky title, a reflection of his personal brand. We'll see how it goes here if it becomes recommending Adam Frazier and Kyle Gibson as correct for the roster once again.
    • Again, I'm not sure what the point of contention is. They won 91 games and lost in the Wildcard round.  That puts them smack in the middle of what I forecast as their most likely outcome, though I did hope for more playoff success.  I'm not sure how that is proof I misevaluated anything. Further, again, lecturing me about the importance of depth, when I'm one of the biggest hoarders on this board, and you're one of the biggest opposite of that, is ironic to say the least.
    • Aaron Judge whined about it so I’m a fan.  The older I get, the more I think people just exist to look for confirmation biases. In all avenues of life. Paul Simon wrote “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.” I’m sure if we beat the Royals and advanced and Walltimore robbed three or four homers from the Royals, we’d be extolling its virtues and how great it is.    But that didn’t happen. If anything, there were a couple instances where, if anything, it worked against us.    So here we are.
    • I mean I wouldn’t be concerned about her opinions on which FA to sign or which players are best. But, she’s definitely a big fan and is just passing off info given to her. If it didn’t track into some other things that make sense, I wouldn’t pay it much mind. Of course, someone with an agenda could’ve just told her those things to spread rumors. Maybe Rick Dempsey haha.
    • Do you think any team is too stupid to account for home park dimensions when evaluating pitchers?
