  1. 1. Would you sign Manny for 11/$231 mm?

    • Yes, sign him up today!
    • I'd do it, but only if Manny stays healthy the rest of 2015
    • No, too rich/risky for my blood

It looks like the last 3 years of Trout's contract are 34 million but the GM who gave him that was fired.

I was only looking at AAV, the way those contracts are compared. But I did not realize that price was making that much. Man. Between Rich Hill, Price and Happ, no wonder Duquette said the monies were staggering.

What the heck? $50 mil a season? Are we at the point yet that anyone would get $50 million a year?

Mike Trout is only getting $33 million starting 2018. Sorry but Manny is not better than Trout. 3/90 is more logical.

At some point there has to be a limit to baseball salaries. Seems like they won't stop going up exponentially but baseball teams aren't making more money than 5 years ago I don't think.

Manny will want 30 million a year with an opt out.Its gonna be a tough pill to swallow, but I think the Orioles will pass.Enjoy him thru 2018 and until 2019. I don't think we'll be able to sign him.

I'd much rather trade him and miss out on 2018 than just to get a draft pick for him.

    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
    • Before Elias.  They generally haven’t missed on a 1st round or 1st round comp pick with the position players.   I trust they’ll make a good decision at #22 and #32.   Their track record in rounds 2-4, particularly on college position players and specifically the last three drafts is suspect.
    • Anyone want to guess what it would take to get Crochet from the White Sox?  We could send SG over to ask politely and remind them of what they missed out on Ortiz.  I'm sure that wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest.
