Orioles interested in Justin Upton, others

We need to just sell already. We'll be in big trouble for several years if we don't sell and this team just doesn't have what it takes this year. We could go from having possibly the worst farm system in baseball to having one of the best farm systems in baseball if we just trade Wieters, Davis, Norris, Chen, Pearce, O'Day and Hunter.

Andrew Miller was one of the better relievers in baseball last year. For a 2-month rental the Orioles gave up a prospect who was rapidly falling off most top 100 lists and wasn't even in the top 3-4 of what you're calling "possibly the worst farm system in baseball." None of the Orioles you list is more valuable than Miller. Trading all of those guys will net you half a dozen prospects from teams lower-tier lists. You could probably do better just stockpiling picks from the rejected QOs from Wieters, Davis, and Chen.

Bubble Boy. Oh yeah. Trea.
Preller did the undoable. He traded Trea Turner. And developed him at the expense of his own players.

Okay, you've said his name twice, legend has it that if you say his name three times he appears.

PLEASE! Do NOT say his name again!!!

You vastly overrate what you think we could get for our FA to be. You could get some decent pieces but nothing that will take the farm above 20th-ish best.

Nothing that would indeed be more valuable than their production this season plus draft compensation and pool money.

The QO system definitely works against the O's type of veterans. It incentivizes the top players like Price who can draw a really solid package easily worth more than a draft pick, or role players like Soria who have value but wouldn't get the QO from the current club. The O's vets are right in that middle ground where they are good enough to receive a QO and get the O's a draft pick, so any trade partner is going to have to come up with something better than a pick, but they are not good enough to demand a top prospect.

Still, a few players in that middle ground drew trades last year. Samardzjia is a decent comp for Chen and Wieters, in my opinion, and I do think Miller and O'Day are comparable.

I can't agree with the Miller - O'Day comparison.

Yeah, Orioles are better off not selling and taking draft picks.

Exactly. The production the players give us the rest of the year+comp picks+4th straight season above .500 is >>> anything we would get for trading them. Stay in the race, keep the fan base excited and re work the roster in the offseason.
