I don't understand why he needs a translator after games when he routinely talks to his catchers and I have seen him talking to other teammates inside the dugout numerous times! :scratchchinhmm:

I wouldn't worry about if. He'll be gone in a few weeks. Maybe he is just more comfortable that way and it is in his contract that he has one.

I don't know why this is so difficult for some people to understand. You can speak the basics of another language, but not enough to have it broadcasted live, and on the spot, to a large audience.

Because damn it is this Amurica and people in this country should speak Amurican!

This response is right on. It's one thing to be able to communicate in a language it's another thing to be able to speak it fluently and articulate exactly what you want to say.

I understand that but he waits until his translator explains the question but IMO gives the impression that shouldn't be necessary as he understands what the catcher and pitching coach tells him and doesn't need a translator to run out to the mound or when he converses with teamates in the dugout!!

And how does this negatively impact your life?

It doesn't.

I'm guessing you are fluent in Mandarin Chinese and can also speak Japanese because you are certainly acting as if you are at least as adroit linguistically as Chen.
