For the first time in two months, the Baltimore Orioles played an entire series with both Manny Machado and J.J. Hardy on the field.

SOURCE: Eddie Matz, ESPN Reporter

The Orioles are 9 games over in the 31 games he has started in. 20-11

J.J. had two mystifying at bats last night where he took strike three on pitches that were pretty clearly strikes. The first came in the top of the fourth, runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. He stood there and watched strike three, even though Tillman was the next batter due up. The second was in the top of the 8th, runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, and Hardy never took the bat off his shoulder during the entire AB. The second one was particularly frustrating, because Wieters had just struck out in front of him so we blew two chances to get the run home from 3rd. Gotta be a little more aggressive in those situations. Happily, it didn't affect the outcome, but it was frustrating at the time.

Guess this is our knuckleball lineup and Kim can't hit the knuckler.

We need to show off the power today.

(vs. ANGELS, 7/10)

Solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning for an insurance run.

Hardy has raised his OPS by 101 points in the last 9 games, posting a 1.102 OPS in that time. His OPS is at .714 now, the highest it's been since April 29, the day before he broke his foot. Hardy did not hit well for the first two weeks following his return, but seems to have found his groove and hopefully he can stay hot for a while.

Heck it's pretty much the same OPS that he had when he hit 20 HR's. He's been hitting lots of doubles. Especially down the lines.

Now hitting .280/.310/.413 and he's been worth 1.0 rWAR, 0.8 fWAR despite playing in only 51 games so far. If he can ovoid further injuries, it's reasonable to hope he could end up in the 2.0-2.3 WAR range.
