I've been extremely critical of DD's past deadlines, mostly for pointless overpays, but I'm actually pretty pleased with this one. Nothing flashy, just solid improvements without giving up significant prospects. Solid B.

Disagree on the Toronto-Pittsburgh deal. Liriano is 32 and has looked bad this year. I think Hutchison is a very good pick-up for the Pirates. I think you are overrating Liriano and underrating Hutchison.

Have to like the players we got and the price we paid for them. DD did very well considering what he had to work with, IMO. Hard t see how DD could have done much better. I'd say B+. Had the Ubaldo for Upton deal gone thru, it would be an A. As I understand it, that is on PA, rather than DD, but we are grading the team here, right?

Decent prospect, but getting Hutchison and offloading Liriano was worth it, IMO. Ramirez is certainly not a can't miss guy.
