Jim Henneman: Manny Machado Serves As A Reminder Of Boog Powell's Success

It's conceivable to say that Boog Powell is one of the 30 best 1Bmen in baseball history. He has a career 134 OPS+, and 1143 runs created. He was listed 27th in the Historical Baseball Abstract, ahead of Gil Hodges, Steve Garvey and Mark Grace. That book however was published in 2003 and more first basemen have joined the fray.

I am too young to remember Boog, so I have a question. What happened to him in 1967? Seems like an outlier season.
