Locks

1. Britton

2. Brach

3. O'day

4. Givens

5. Hart

6. Drake(No options)

7.  Nuno

Then the AAA/AA shuttle of Verrett, Ynoa, Wilson, Wright, Ondrusek, Acquino, Bridwell, Gunkel, Liranzo, C. Lee, J.Garcia all with options and on the 40 man.

Drake is going to have to pitch well, and eat innings to stay.  The 7th man will be rotated through to keep a fresh arm.  Really the whole purpose of the last 3 spots in the pen is to protect the top 4.  So there might be times where we can't afford the luxury of having a LOOGY like Hart.

I'm not sure I agree. Having a LOOGY who can dominate lefties can be a real difference maker in the bullpen. Matusz before he started to struggle and then Hart last season shows how important that guy is. I do think that Hart will need to be able to to at least defend himself against righties.

VERY EARLY in Spring Training, Vidal Nuno looks good.

Zach Stewart (minor league contract, not on the 40-man roster) has pitched 5.33 scoreless innings so far,

Obviously, there is still a long way to go until early April.

1  Inning Pitched.

3 )Up, 3 Down.

2  Strikeouts, 1 Flyout.

Good to see Drake bounce back and have a scoreless outing.  I'm thinking he and Nuno will win the last two bullpen spots.

ROCH KUBATKO SAYS:

Holy crap! Stewart with the strikeout, the ball pops in air, and Sisco can't find it ........ Stewart runs it down between mound and 3rd base, throws to 1st to get the runner.

ROCH KUBATKO SAYS:

2 Shutout Innings. 2 Strikeouts, 1 Walk.

Stewart has now has thrown 5 1/3 scoreless innings so far this spring, allowing only 1 hit.

Entered the game with the bases loaded, and 2 outs.

Retired all 4 batters that he faced, although he did allow a runner to score from 3rd base on a wild pitch.

Has not allowed a run in 6.67 innings pitched so far in Spring Training, and has a WHIP of 0.599.

So far this spring, Stewart has pitched 8.67 innings of shutout ball (0.00 ERA), and has a WHIP of 0.231.

I have included Stewart's statistics in his 1.33-inning stint in the game against the Dominican Republic ....... a game that Major League Baseball and the Orioles do not include in its/their overall Spring Training statistics.

I'm not a big believer in Stewart's stuff from the outing I saw him this spring. He's putting up big numbers but i have to imagine he's behind Wright, Wilson, Ynoa, Verrett, and Aquino for a rotation spot.
