O's release Ondrusek

The O's have saved 542K by releasing Ondrusek.   Because they released him prior to March 18th (16 days before the start to the season per the CBA) he only will receive 30 day termination pay or 108K of his 650K contract.

I was a little surprised they could release an injured player but it appears they were allowed to do that.

This move opens  a  spot of the 40 man roster.

He's not on the 40-man roster/team, but he's in the organization.

Still don't understand why they tendered him a contract.  If they really wanted him they could have non-tendered him then tried to sign him to a minor league deal.

We released Chaz Roe to sign Ondrusek.    Roe's a much better pitcher.
