Cobb, Núñez, Alberto, Castro, and Martin

(By Roch Kubatko)

(From the Article)

The 4-out save Saturday by Miguel Castro was important on a few fronts.

Castro locked down the clubs 20th win of the season. No late-inning gut punches. Let the music play in the clubhouse.

It also extended Castros streak of scoreless outings to 5, and his ERA has fallen from 7.40 to 5.35 in that span. Hes worked multiple innings in 4 of the 5 games.

Castros fastball touched 100 MPH in Denver, and has been regularly at 98-99 MPG. Hes really good when he is able to mix in his slider and change-up ........ and when he can throw strikes, of course.

Hyde keeps searching for relievers that he can trust. Hes fond of left-hander Richard Bleier for that reason. Castro needs to become that guy, and give Hyde more options over the course of a game.

Castro is out of Minor League options, so another slump again leaves the club in a bind.

(vs. YANKEES, 7/30)

Castro pitched a shutout inning on only 7 pitches of a 5-4 ballgame to keep his team within striking distance.

Perhaps he would have pitched more if not for the rain-delay.

(vs. MARLINS, 8/05) )))))) [GAME ONE]

Castro pitched very well in a very close game.

A throwing error by Renato Nunez forced him to essentially get 7 Outs over 2 Innings Pitched.

4 of the 6 outs that he recorded came via the Strikeout.

(vs. NATIONALS, 8/08)

Castro entered the bottom of the 9th inning with a 2-Run lead.

After getting the first batter of the inning out, he gave Oriole fans a scare by walking Wilmer Difo to bring the potential tying run to the plate.

On a pivotal-situation 3-2 pitch to Victor Robles, Castro caught him with his pants down with a 97-MPH sinker for the Strikeout.

He then finished off the Nationals with another Strikeout, this time fanning Trea Turner with an 85-MPH slider.
