I could not find any manager traded during the season. However did find four traded after the season for players:

Ozzie Guillen to Marlins 2011

Lou Piniella to Rays 2002

Chuck Tanner tp Pirates 1976

Gil Hodges to Mets 1967

The O's have to compete in the AL East.   Manny goes to the Yankees he is there for the next 10 years.   Makes it harder for the O's to compete.  Go find the best deal outside the AL East.   Getting the best prospect is one thing.  But it does not good if you make the other guys sooo good you can't beat them.

So, you take lesser prospects to keep from trading him to the Yankees or Red Sox now..then after next year he signs a 10 year deal with one of them either way...then we have guys that may not amount to anything AND the Yankees or Red Sox have Manny anyhow. Sounds like a solid plan.
