His eye has looked a lot better so far, it doesn't look like he's guessing like last year. The numbers in the small sample seem to back that up. I'm not really worried yet. He's at least swinging at strikes and laying off balls which is a lot more than I was expecting.

Season Team O-Swing% Z-Swing% Swing% O-Contact% Z-Contact% Contact% Zone% F-Strike% SwStr%

2012 Orioles 38.9 % 77.6 % 54.2 % 56.0 % 82.5 % 71.0 % 39.5 % 62.6 % 15.6 %
2013 Orioles 34.7 % 74.5 % 50.2 % 54.8 % 79.6 % 69.1 % 39.0 % 56.6 % 15.2 %
2014 Orioles 30.9 % 70.4 % 46.8 % 48.9 % 77.7 % 66.3 % 40.4 % 62.5 % 15.5 %
2015 Orioles 30.1 % 72.2 % 47.5 % 50.9 % 76.5 % 67.0 % 41.3 % 62.1 % 15.6 %
2016 Orioles 28.2 % 64.1 % 42.7 % 49.4 % 76.3 % 65.7 % 40.5 % 58.1 % 14.6 %
2017 Orioles 29.7 % 60.0 % 42.8 % 47.9 % 79.0 % 66.7 % 43.0 % 61.6 % 14.2 %
2018 Orioles 21.9 % 75.0 % 46.7 % 71.4 % 90.5 % 85.7 % 46.7 % 50.0 % 6.3 %

Good stuff. We’ve seen some pretty tough pitching so far.  Hopefully these numbers will play out better against some lesser quality of SP.

I know it's early in the season.   I know he's owed millions.    But, how long do they keep this guy?   Can they just cut their losses?    It's been obvious since the second half of the 2016 season that his bat speed is gone.

Surely Angelos can deduct him on his 2018 taxes as a business loss. Sorry, got IRS on my mind this time of year.

Well, I don't know if the Davis-leadoff experiment is over.   I hope it is.

But it certainly will take a hiatus tomorrow.   There's NO WAY he will be leading off vs one of the top 3 or 4 lefthanded pitchers in the majors.   In fact, I think it could be a good spot to give him a day off.

If Davis is leading off tomorrow I would ask that Buck undergo a psych eval.

Or a drug test.
