ERIE, Pa. – The Baysox (12-11) plated four runs in the third, LHP Keegan Akin fanned a career-high 12 and Bowie snapped a four-game skid with a 7-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves (8-15) on Tuesday night at UPMC Park in Erie.

In the afore-mentioned third inning, a double and a single put two men on before Corban Joseph knocked in a run with an RBI single and an error charged to Erie RF Kenny Wilson on the play allowed two other runs to score. Ademar Rifaela added his first Eastern League home run later in the frame to make it a 4-0 game in favor of the Baysox.

Akin (3-2) allowed two runs on two hits while walking three and fanning a career-high 12 batters in six innings of work. LHP Luis Gonzalez (2.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, BB, 3 K) and LHP Paul Fry (1.0 IP, K) combined to close things out for Bowie.

The 12 strikeouts are the most by a Baysox pitcher since RHP Radhames Liz fanned 14 on August 14, 2007 vs. Connecticut.

Erie cut the lead in half with solo runs in the fourth and fifth including a solo shot from Kody Eaves in the fourth.

In the top of the sixth, Adrian Marin reached on a fielder’s choice and scored from first on Erick Salcedo’s RBI double to make it a 5-2 game in favor of the Baysox.

FREDERICK, MD- The Salem Red Sox (15-10) used three home runs on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Frederick Keys (8-17) on Tuesday night at Nymeo Field. As a team, the orange and black finished 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position, and tied a season-high by leaving 11 men on base.

The Red Sox started the scoring in the first. Following a leadoff walk to Santiago Espinal, Brett Netzer doubled in a run. Roldani Baldwin followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. Frederick answered in the bottom of the first with a run. Randolph Gassaway drew a two-out walk and scored on a Jomar Reyes single.

Salem would add a run in the top of the second on a Kyrie Washington home run off of Keys starter Alex Wells. In the bottom of the fourth Frederick added a single marker. Yojhan Quevedo was hit by a pitch. He advanced to third on a Collin Woody double, and the Keys loaded the bases with a Ryan McKenna walk. Quevedo would score on a Cole Billingsley ground out to make it 3-2 Red Sox.

The Red Sox scored a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings on solo home runs. Espinal launched a home run in the fifth before Baldwin led off the sixth with a homer, which capped off the scoring for both teams.

Wells (0-3) took the loss. The left-hander tossed six innings and allowed five runs on six hits. He walked a man and struck out six, while also tying a career-high with three home runs allowed. Daniel Gonzalez (4-0) picked up his fourth straight win. The reliever fired three scoreless innings, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out four. Joey Rickard continued his hot hitting with a clutch double and three runs batted in, helping Norfolk rally for a 7-5 win over the Durham Bulls Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

Rickard, playing in his first game back with the Tides after he was optioned from Baltimore on Sunday, drove in a run with a groundout in the first frame before he knotted the score with a two-run double in the fifth. Rickard has now reached base safely in all 16 games he’s appeared in with the Tides, batting .339 with six doubles, a triple and 13 runs batted in.

Norfolk trailed the contest 4-1 after two innings of play, but rallied with four runs in the fifth to take the lead. A bases loaded wild pitch from Austin Pruitt pulled Norfolk within 4-2, and Rickard followed with a two-out, two-run double to knot the score at 4-4. Michael Saunders then gave Norfolk the lead with a run-scoring single.

Durham tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth inning, but the Tides answered right back on a two-run single by Ruben Tejada off of Cody Hall (1-2).

Josh Edgin then worked two shutout innings out of the bullpen before giving way to Donnie Hart, who struck out two in a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Norfolk starter Tim Melville (3-0) was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst, with the right-hander picking up the win after six innings of work. Melville surrendered four runs on two homers through the first seven batters he faced, but salvaged his outing by yielding just three hits and a run over his final four innings of work. He struck out seven and walked three in his outing, yielding five runs on six hits while throwing 57 of his 91 pitches for strikes.

SALISBURY, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds opened a seven-game homestand with a convincing win over the defending SAL champs, defeating the Greenville Drive 7-1 on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Michael Baumann (3-0) turned in his second scoreless start for the Shorebirds (17-8), scattering two singles across six scoreless innings while walking two and striking out three. Denyi Reyes (2-2) took the loss for the Drive (5-20), allowing three runs on four hits in six innings.

Trevor Craport took target practice all night long, starting the run barrage in the second inning. T.J. Nichting beat out a one-out single, then Craport laced a double that one-hopped the wall in left, bringing Nichting home. After a groundout, Ben Breazeale golfed a liner down the left field line that bounced over the wall for an automatic double. Craport scored to put Delmarva up 2-0.

Craport took Reyes deep to left center in the fourth inning, clearing the two-tiered ad wall behind the fence for a solo home run, his first of the season. Three innings later, Craport did it again, lashing a line drive down the left field line off reliever Juan Florentino that just cleared the fence. Craport's second blast of the game made it 4-1 Shorebirds in the seventh.

Greenville had an answer in the top of the eighth as Marino Campana belted a solo home run to left, his third of the year. Delmarva responded with three of their own in the home half of the eighth.

Kirvin Moesquit led off with a single, then stole second base and advanced to third when the throw to get him sailed into the outfield. Zach Jarrett walked two batters later, bringing up Seamus Curran, who belted a liner to right that ate up Lorenzo Cedrola and trickled to the warning track. Moesquit and Jarrett scored and Curran took third on the throw. Nichting then muscled the next pitch past a drawn-in infield, plating Curran to make it 7-1.

Reed Hayes handled the seventh and eighth innings out of the bullpen, giving up the Campana home run and nothing else. Zach Muckenhirn worked around an error in the ninth to put up one more scoreless frame, and the Shorebirds wrapped it up in a neat 2:05, tying their shortest nine-inning game of the season.

Craport finished the night 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Curran rebounded from three early strikeouts for his two-run double, giving him a team-high 18 driven in. Nichting went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI, extending his on-base streak to 17 games.
