We don’t know if he came clean or not.   According to Bigbie, Roberts told Bigbie he tried it one or twice. At the time, Bigbie had no suspicions that Roberts used steroids, as he had declined to partake in Bigbie’s presence.   So why would Roberts tell Bigbie he’d tried it, but lie about the extent of his use?     

Again, I’m not saying what Roberts said about the extent of his use was true.    But there’s certainly a lot of doubt in my mind about whether he lied, since he had no real reason to lie to Bigbie.
