Bannon was one of the prospects Los Angeles sent to the O’s for Manny Machado. The diminutive infielder packs a surprising punch at the plate, with 50-grade raw power paired with above-average strikeout rates. Looks like he's moving up to Triple-A. It'll be interesting to see how he does in that park with the Major League ball.

Didn't expect him to move up to AAA this year.  Could he be competing for a job out of spring training next year then?

Kind of odd. But I guess nothing wrong with seeing if he can hang at AAA. Pretty young at 23.

Not sure why this would be a surprise. He’s played 142 games with Bowie and the guys ahead of him at Norfolk are just warm bodies.

It is only surprising because Yusniel Diaz hasn't been promoted yet, having played 197 games at the AA level with better numbers. 

Both should be promoted.

Hopefully Diaz will be once he comes off the DL.

Unlikely, as he won't be on the 40-man roster. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the MLB club by this time next year though.

I think it’s way to early to say he won’t be on the 40 man. I think that really depends on offseason moves and what he shows from here on through spring training.

If we can get something of value for Alberto in the offseason, Bannon could definitely get a spot on the 40.

The DL stint is probably the only reason he wasn't also sent up.

There's no reason to put him on the 40 until you have to. If he makes the team out of spring, you would have to, but I don't see that happening unless he dominates in the last few weeks and then has a huge spring.

That is kinda the point I was trying to make. If he earns a spot on the major league roster, he'd be put on the 40. Not being on the 40 wouldn't be a reason to keep him off the roster.

SSS, but real nice start for Bannon in AAA.  15-45 at the plate, two doubles today, homered last night, OPS in the mid .800s.

Need him to start walking down there, but he could play himself into the conversation for 2020 with a good finish in Norfolk.  Still young, too.
