How the Orioles could win the World Series next year.

Last place is last place and I think it's been well established they you're in the minority in thinking that Villar can be a 3+ WAR player again.

Who cares about the 3 WAR ....Quit being a troll  .... You dont need to remind me in nearly every post that we disagree. It's well noted!

The Orioles missed the wild card by 42 games. The poster mentioned signing 3 high priced guys to help get you to the World Series.

My simple point ....Not arguing any specific player but they already deducted wins by dealing away two veteran players. And that's not taking into consideration that the guys who likely replace them are likely below replacement level.

I think Guido does have one solid point in his favor, which is that WAR, run differential and actual wins don’t always correlate.    After all, did we add 24 wins worth of talent between 2011 and 2012?    No, but we won 24 more games.

Two problems with that, though: (1) large discrepancies like that can occur, but they’re not very common, and (2) we’d need to add 40 wins, not 24, to be a World Series contender.

and (3) Joe Saunders.

You should probably compare the run scoring environments before using that sort of logic.

Fair point, but the Rays scored only 769 this year so not that far off.   Add Rendon, dump Davis, we see improvement from some of youngsters and a few new faces who wouldn't break the bank and then its all down to pitching.

You commented on something you posted hours ago (when you've been on the board all day) and I'm the troll?   My point is and was that they still would have finished in last place. And does it really matter if they finish 42 or 32 games out of the wildcard race? Last place is last place. If you want to bring this back to your point about retaining Villar would have given you a reason to root for them that's fine, but it wouldn't have moved the needle. I think it would be best if I didn't read or respond to any of your posts for awhile, but feel free to continue pissing in the wind if it helps you cope.

What kind of lazy thread making is this? Where are the mods? It's not only not creative, it's not true.

So we’re going to sic the mods on threads we disagree with now?

You two need to stop. Now. None of us want this.

The mods make plenty of time to throw the hammer down on things they disagree with, so yes?

I think the thread premise is ridiculous. I defend his right to be ridiculous. My problem is with the other poster's banter.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
