We’ve used 10 starters this year, who collectively have a 4.75 ERA as starters.    That includes three pitchers who are gone: Milone (3.99 ERA in 6 starts), Wojo (5.17 in 7 starts) and LeBlanc (8.06 in 6 starts).    If you remove those three , the remaining 7 have a 4.35 ERA. That includes Zimmermann and Eshelman, who aren’t currently in the rotation.

I’m guessing that with the minor leagues being contracted, some staff from the team to be contracted were either eliminated or will be moved to another affiliate and someone else from that affiliate terminated.

4.51 is league average for AL starters.   Of course, almost every team has pitchers who started games but are not currently on the roster, so you’d have to do the same analysis for them as I did for the O’s in order to do a valid comparison with the 4.35 for the O’s starters who are still with us.
