Looks like B-Ref doesn't do black ink on minors, but I heard this morning that was a Triple Slash Triple Crown that fall.

This was my first look at the minors history, and the Eye holding up (even improving) in AA despite him not hitting as well is encouraging.

You can look at the pro history and imagine a Warm Weather kid scuffling in spring in New England.  His dad rejected that Orioles trade in part because the family liked San Diego so well.

Cross-referencing imagining and facts, the AA 2019 monthly splits say...19 August XBH's, including the always neato trick of XBH > K. 

This is probably his true year to have made a run at Mountcastlean AAA HR/RBI numbers - a full season next year may be a little excessive.  Renato's only Arb1 in 2021, so might be a little too quick in three months for the next round of Villar surprise non-tender drama, but a 2022 forecast perhaps has Nevin 90% as good for 10% of the cost, so...

It does seem like, in a lot of ways, those 2012 and 2014 Os teams changed a lot.  The Royals did as well.

Fangraphs ranked Vavra as the second best prospect that any team acquired at the deadline, and Nevin tenth best (excluding the unknown PTBNLs, of course).   https://blogs.fangraphs.com/ranking-the-prospects-traded-during-the-2020-deadline/

Yep. I was just wondering where the notion that they changed his rating came from - they've had him at a 45 since at least December of last year.

Givens traded again....Did the Rockies end up net positive or negative on the trade?  Case Williams and Noah Davis for Nevin, Vavra, Deson.

 

11:29am: The Rockies will reacquire right-hander Case Williams from the Reds in return for Givens, reports MLB.com’s Thomas Harding (via Twitter). Williams was the Rockies’ fourth-round pick in last summer’s draft, but he was traded to the Reds alongside Jeff Hoffman in the deal that brought Robert Stephenson and outfield prospect Jameson Hannah to Colorado.

11:52am: The Rockies will also receive right-hander Noah Davis from the Reds, Feinsand tweets. The 24-year-old has made 13 starts with Cincinnati’s Class-A Advanced affiliate in 2021, pitching to a 3.60 ERA with a sharp 27.6 percent strikeout rate but a lofty 12.5 percent walk rate. He’s induced grounders at a 38.9 percent clip.

Too soon to tell but on paper I feel we got a significantly better return.  Vavra alone makes it worth it and Deson is an interesting lottery ticket.
