What will the O's 2021 draft be like?

Don't they have the most difficult projected remaining schedule?

Yeah, I have to imagine it will be heavy Yankees and Tampa for a bit, and I'm sure strength of schedule is a big part of their predictions. Who knows? I honestly didn't realize the Nats were doing so badly.

Though it hasn't yet been announced, speculation is that the draft will be during the All Star break. With the elimination of short season minor league teams next year, it is easier to hold the draft later in the year. The draft will be 20 rounds next year (this was part of the negotiations to restart the season).

It’s amazing considering what Soto and Turner are doing.

Ok Haha

Seriously, if they include last year we are probably picking 2 or 3

If I were Manfred, I’d project this year’s record to 162 games, and average that with last year’s record to come up with the draft order.

The suggestion in the article I posted of taking the average of the winning % in both years likely comes up w very similar results, but is technically/mathematically more appealing.  For instance, maybe a team played 160 games in 2019, now the 2020 results carry ever so slightly more weight.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
