Kjerstad will participate in "fall activities" whatever that means.  Probably means not in the AFL.

Sounds like Kjerstad will attend the Fall instructional League.   Any kind of continued "baseball" acitivity is good news at this point.  Hopefully, he gets to face live pitching while there.

As Frobby points out in another thread, Stowers to the AFL might be part of a plan to accelerate him to the big leagues early next year (which might have implications for guys like Santander and Stewart).

Meanwhile, Diaz to the AFL might be something different:  if he is fully healthy, this is a last chance to show that he still has some potential before he is overrun by the invading hordes of outfielders coming through our organization behind him.  Sort of a fresh start for a lost 2021 season to either give him something positive to look forward to in 2022, or if he fails it might be the end of his chances in our organization.

He's pretty far down in the system.   Pitchers whose highest level of play is the NY-Penn league don't often go to the AFL, if ever.

While I do agree, I can see the point some posters made about not sending some arms due to their innings.

Vavra could be a candidate to go. He got hurt in the middle of the season and lost ABs. This could be a good way for him to get 100 of those “AA” ABs back. 
 

Daschach makes sense as well. He was on fire once he was promoted to Bowie. We gave him $250k in the 11th rd a couple of years ago. He’s going to be 24 next year. He doesn’t have to be protected this offseason. It could be a good way to see if he can build off his AA momentum.

Any update on who the other 4-5 guys will be? So far I know of Stowers, Diaz, and Loeprisch.

Well, the AFL season starts in 8 days, so it can’t be long before we find out.

Roch posted that while he initially reported rosters would come out yesterday, due to news coming out of MLB or something.....they will now be announced tomorrow (Wednesday).

Vavra makes a ton of sense if he's healthy, but he only played 4 games in September and none after September 7th.

One late update: Ramon Rodriguez is now listed as “Taxi Squad.” First time I’ve ever seen this in the AFL.

The AFL is implementing the following new rules: A pitch timer, restriction on defensive positioning, larger bases and the Automatic Ball-Strike System (ABS).

The defensive team must have a minimum of four players on the infield, with each required to have both feet completely in front of the outer boundary of the infield, and two infielders must be positioned entirely on each side of second base.

Pitchers and catchers also will be permitted to use the communication device PitchCom.
