Baumler was also ranked 16 last year.  Even though he didn’t play at all this year, he jumped Baumann, Kremer, Lowther, Diaz, Vavra and Haskin (plus Akin graduated off the list).   Just a case of those players disappointing in 2021 I guess.

Just a case of watching so many of our swing man type prospects not being successful at the MLB level, so higher upside guys are winning out.

While Baumler didn’t play, he sounds like his recovery has had no setbacks. That’s a big success rather than at this point last year we had just realized he needed TJS.

He didn't jump Lowther who is ahead of him at #15.

Baumler was a guy who I thought the Orioles did a great job in getting into the fold and despite the TJ surgery, he's a guy with a four pitch mix upside and a chance to throw in the mid-90s. Obviously he's an extreme risk who has only thrown one game as a senior, but he's a guy similar to Mayo who could really be a steal when it's all said and done.

Next year, I expect him to be assigned to Delmarva where it would not surprise me if they limit him to 3-inning stints early on with a tight pitch limits. Hopefully he can get in 80 innings or so and then we'll have a better idea of what the Orioles have in him.

Yeah, I’d caught that and corrected it just as you were posting this.

I’m relatively high on Baumler and don’t have an issue with this placement.   I just think it says a lot about some of our higher-ranked pitchers from 2020 that they actually fell behind a guy who didn’t pitch this year.   It was a disappointing year for a lot of our AA/AAA pitchers.

It wasn't a great year for pitching in the organization as a whole. Only Rom and Pinto really stood out as guys who took steps forward outside of Rodriguez and Hall. I did like some things I saw from Bradish at times and then there's Felix Bautista who is suddenly throwing 100 MPH. Kevin Smith was hugely disappointing in AAA. Borderline guys like Vespi, Sedlock and Bishop did well at times.

Wasn't overly impressed with most of the arms acquired in the trades outside of Pinto and Bradish.

Brandon Young was impressive though as a 1st year guy.

I see a comment like that and I'm just...how in the world can that be accurate and him still be there in the fifth round?

Signablility and lack of teams seeing him pitch because of COVID. Some teams also didn't have the background to even know what he wanted to sign because of COVID.

Most teams just figured he was going to TCU. The Orioles must've knew his number and pulled the trigger when he was available.

To give an idea of how athletic Greinke is, he's won 6 GG's and 2 Silver Sluggers.  If I remember right, he was used as a pinch-hitter in one of this year's WS's games - and got a hit - sharply to the opposite field.  He had 8 XBH's in 2019, 3 steals in 2018.  Oh, and he can pitch.

    • Frustrating sure, but boring is not what I would I say. We do steal bases at times. I would like for us to play more small ball sometimes and it is frustrating to see us be so homerun happy. I think with Westy back, we will see a resurgence of timely hitting as that is very contagious.   We saw that at the beginning of the year. Amazing sight to see for sure. I think the most disheartening thing that really shocked me is the apathy and outright disgust I’ve seen from O’s fans toward their team. Perhaps we have been spoiled? No idea. Maybe expectations were too high? No idea, but frankly, a lot of yall focusing on other things and simply not watching/posting would make next season a lot more enjoyable. This is the first time since 96-97 where we make the playoffs in back to back years and you guys have been acting like some real lame jerks this whole dang season. Frankly, yall should be ashamed of yourselves. We are an incredibly young team and with that come highs and lows, but yall don’t see that. You just love to complain and moan and bloviate. Where’s the heart? Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the gratitude? You’d think with all this team has overcome, especially being so young, y’all would be happy, but no. So go off on your little bike rides or whatever. Go watch a movie if this saga seems boring to you. I don’t care. Just for once this season, keep your immense negativity to yourself.
    • Really an amazing run, 4 straight years. I completely agree with the ranking, too. There's no way Kjerstad is still a prospect though, right? 45 days is the cutoff and he's played in 48 games.
    • i think we all are going to have ptsd from that 9th inning for a while,it was that brutally bad . they need to do some special to get us to forget about it
    • wow,did gunnar and adley have to do this last season?
    • I suggested that earlier but I think it's probably a bad play with no out. The O's have like 85% probability of scoring. There is a huge downside risk of Mullins popping up the bunt for a double play. He could also whiff on the bunt making at least Holliday an easy out. With one out and only 65% probability of scoring it's a much better play. I think if Santander and Mullins were reversed in the lineup Hyde may have done it but not when you have two shots to get the run in.
    • WE GOT US ONE - JD5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Completely disagree about Orr. He will be fine. His defense has been better in its first few games compared to McDonald’s first few games.     And some of these big passing stats are over exaggerated. There have been mistakes for sure.
