ESPN: Druw Jones suffers shoulder injury

Second year in a row that the the Dbacks took a stud HS player and then they immediately hurt their shoulder after drafting them.  That’s crazy.

On the topic of luck... seems like the Jays have figured out they're a good baseball team. 15 against them in the 2nd half is going to be a problem.

We'll see.  They just played 4 vs KC, 3 vs the imploding Red Sox, and now they get to play St Louis with Goldschmidt and Arenado stuck in the south side of the US/Canada  border.

True. We'll be at full strength in Canada (O's weren't last time), and Jays have padded up their home record thanks in no small part to teams missing multiple players due to the covid restrictions.

Odd phrasing on the MLB Network crawl for this....it goes like the injury is not concerning long-term, but also that Jones might miss significant time NEXT year.

I'm confused by this injury and would like you guys' opinion here.  Could there have been an underlying condition missed in all the pre-draft research and whatnot?  How does a player injure his shoulder so severely that NEXT season is in question, just during what is basically a ceremonial batting practice?  That must have been a helluva swing...

Also a fun exercise is trying to imagine the mood around here if this had happened to Holliday (or if we had picked Jones and it happened).  Woo boy.

And there top prospect had a freak shoulder injury last year too. Crazy
