Are the Nats interested in trading Gore and Harvey  For Povich, Norby, and a filler?  Not sure they want to move Gore though…

Harvey probably isn’t expensive to get. Don’t know about Gore …. I think you can deal Harvey and give up a 12-17 prospect. Maybe Haskins or Fabian…..If I’m giving up Norby it’s for a big piece .

Robertson was just traded last year and the Cubs got top 100 prospect Ben Brown for only 3 months. He has even better numbers this year. It's going to take a good bit more than Prieto.

Last year you had another season of control. If he costs more than the #15 ish player in the best system I’d probably just pass.

I'm not interested in giving up any of our top 15 prospects for less than half a year rental. 

I like the Goldschmidt option, and either of the 2 Cardinals pitchers SG suggested.  If we can get those, or other similar options done using:

Stowers, Hall, Pieto/Norby/Ortiz.. and some 15-20 prospects. 

If not, I'll double down with what we have.

I want an elite BP arm, but only as a rental.  Not interested in paying the price cost- controlled would cost.  Similarly would rather pay less for a guy like Giolito.  I would use the excess position player talent to trade for other minor league pitchers.  I just don’t think there are or will be TOR guys that are worth the risk of and dollars of trading away big time talent for.

I agree. Moreover, I just believe there are certain players that Elias is bound and determined to see as Orioles,, including Mayo and Kjerstad, and will not trade under any circumstances. He has a vision of the team he wants, has worked hard to assemble the pieces to make that team a reality, and barring a breathtaking offer is just not going to do anything to jeopardize that vision. It will be very interesting to see how things end up in a month.

You’d do that deal for a 4 era pitcher that’s only here 1/2 a season? He’s only a marginal upgrade over Gibson

1.5 seasons. And no, I wouldn't be interested in trading for him at that cost.

I thought Burned was controlled for more than 1/2 year. In that case, I agree I wouldn’t trade anybody of value for a rental.

I'd have to look it up, but I don't remember Elias saying he didn't like how it was panning out. I thought he said something more along the lines of the starters market being difficult to nail down at that point. I could be wrong.
