They have him 31st in our system.  I was expecting him to be more like top 20.

Ditto.   Every team has different opinions on prospects, as does every analyst.  I’ve heard Longenhagen interviewed and he humbly says he couldn’t possibly know as much about a player as a team with many scouts and a lot of data at their disposal to which he doesn’t have access (though he does have access to a lot).   So, the fact that Longenhagen liked a lower-drafted prospect better than a higher-drafted one is interesting, but not very concerning to me.  And he’s my favorite of the national analysts.

They usually go by draft order.  It’s usually not an exact science.   I thought someone said #12 Bradfield, #22 Horvath, and #31 Baumeister.   I wouldn’t get too caught up in that.    We probably have the lowest ranked 2023 1st round pick, by far, of any teams top 20.

They have Lord and Josenberg ahead of him.  It’s more just interesting that a guy everyone was worrying we wouldn’t sign and we sent overslot for is not as highly thought of by Longenhagen.

As I'm sure you know, that would be a statement about how strong our prospect list is, as opposed to a low rating of Bradfield.

I’ve said as much.  It’s funny in a good way.  In the old days Bradfield would be an automatic top 5 immediately after the draft.

Did Baumeister even pitch in the minors this year?  I don't see any stats for him.  I was hoping he was someone who could move fast and maybe even get to the majors by the end of 2024.  I guess not.

According to MiLB.com, he has no stats.

I went back and researched the pick again this week. I am very interested to see where he starts and his results this year.
