Sometimes I can’t understand your posts.  This one I understand and wish I didn’t.  😆

We aren't actually getting Matt Chapman or Manny Machado, though it'd be fun if we did.     Corbin Burnes is a proof of concept the Org winning a competition for a very high value player, but he is also cost constrained.

Eddie Murray coming back was a very happy memory, and so would Manny but I hope Coby Mayo becomes the third greatest 3B in franchise history.

Ok, Mr. Linguist, how is foreordained different than preordained?

To boil it down, as I understand it, - foreordained is more secular, allowing for individual agency while preordained is divine plan of creation, a synonym of predestination.

I just don't know if I have been preordained or foreordained as Mr. Linguist.

Ha.  I get it.  I used an extreme example.  I think there is a plan ( foreordained) heading into the season based on the teams belief in certain players.  If those beliefs are confirmed I stick by my guess on the playing time allocation.   All bets are off if Westburg and/or Holliday are hitting .179 on May 15.

Like Gunnar was?   Oh, I think they’ll be more patient than that.

Just going to the ZiPS 50% scenario for all three (Westburg .737, Holliday .723, Urias .716), if we get something in that ballpark I’d expect Westburg to play a good bit more than Urias.

Which player is most likely to lose AB’s if Holliday makes the team?

Urias, and Mateo.  I still think Elias is trying (or will try) to move Urias before Opening Day if Holliday has a solid spring.  Even if Urias is a marginally better fielder at 3B than Westburg, I believe that Westburg's upside is much greater than Urias.

I looked it up too.

I can’t honestly say I’d thought about it when I posted.  Or any other time.

@Frobbyfor some reason did not answer this question.

I noticed that no one did.

I found myself thinking a short while ago (unlike some others on here 🙂 as CoC succinctly pointed out), that you don't really need a crystal ball to see the obvious.  AND, some people make things way more complicated than they really are.

I wrote a lengthy response that I guess got erased before I posted it.  Short version: right now, it’s more likely that Urias will lose at bats than Westburg.

You also asked for clarification from Mr. Linguist. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don't think I've earned the title, after reading the Hangout for a while, there are far better linguists and wordsmiths than me here in the forum. I'm a former editor, which only sets me up for trouble in the future with any typos or miscues or helping someone with semantics.
