In 1983 there was the famous TIppy Martinez 3 pickoff game, won by Lenn Sakata on a walkoff HR after he had to cach the top of the 12th.

Also in that series, was a great pitcher's duel, I want to say it was 0-0 into the 10th and the Orioles walked it off, I vaguely remember it might have been on a Dan Ford hit.

Then there was a 3rd game in that series where Toronto blew the O's out.   That was the game in that series that I attended, unfortunately.

I'm going tomorrow.  I hope it's not similar, where there are two memorable games and I get stuck with the dud.

I was at the Tippy game.  I had just turned 13.  Lenn Sakata went deep in extra innings.  The reason everyone tried to get big leads and steal was Lenn Sakata was catching.  Earl had used all his catchers pinch hitting.

I feel bad for Ron Washington. I know he has a past and all, but he's a good baseball guy. I'm sure he's happy to be a manager again but damn, the Angels are terrible.

Don't feel too bad. It's still not the stinker on the day Dave Trembley was elevated from interim to actual manager and he lost 30-3.

Orioles ran out of infielders too Roenicke was playing 3B and Lowentein at 2B. Tippy said he kept throwing it over to Eddie at 1B because he was the only infielder he recognized.

Different ends of the baseball coach/managerial spectrum, but both were probably glad to have the opportunity to be in the dugout.
