ok

do you read palms too?

i’m kind of laughing how everyone is trying to convince me the Orioles aren’t cheap.

Wait, you started talking about promoting all the young guys.  The young guys are the cheap ones, so getting younger overall goes with the team staying cheap.

I think most here are with you about spending more money on high quality veterans -- in part  because playing mainly prospects doesn't by itself make a team better.  Not all the young guys will become elite performers, and some of those who will aren't yet ready for big leagues.

Gosh.  Right now the O's are only spending around $0.98 million per win.  If ownership really cared about the fan base (full disclosure I'm a FANatic) then they should immediately up the payroll to the Yankees $2.8 million per win to close the terrifying 2-game gap with a mere 2/3rds of the season left.  There's really no compelling argument to wait a minute longer.

I’m a Detroit fan. But really any of them will taste great.

I love a classic NYC, but Detroit style is a great change of pace sometimes.

Yes, I’ve noticed that they are cheap. No one has answered why we have one of  the league’s lowest payroll.
I don’t care if some billionaire spends a bunch of money. It’s not my money. Spend it. We used to. We can afford it.

And so what if I’m wrong? If this one particular billionaire proves me wrong I’ll be thrilled and maybe I’ll start liking billionaires . I don’t know if you guys noticed who the billionaires are these days but they don’t seem like very nice people in general.

Those people who are actually on topic are talking as though the offense has been terrible lately, but that’s really not the case.   In May, the O’s are 10th in MLB in runs/game at 4.33 runs per game.  They are 11th in OPS at .706.  So, while they’ve dropped off considerably from March/April and have been more inconsistent, they’re still hitting and scoring runs at an above average clip. And, the team is still winning.  I think they are capable of better but I disagree with those who think some reconstruction is required at this point.  Teams have ups and downs as a season progresses and I see this as more of a temporary downturn than a sign of major weaknesses.  I may sing a different tune if the offense stagnates in June, but for now I’m in favor of more or less staying the course.

Please don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story!😃
