Jimenez isn't coming back in 2025, and the White Sox paid most of what was left on it for 2024. The O's basically got him for free. Eflin's salary was only partial, too. I'm reserving judgement on Rubenstein until we see some medium/long term deals both in free agency *and* via extending young players. He basically inherited a ~$100m payroll and added minimally to it throughout the year. This offseason is going to go an incredibly long way to judging just how much of a change there really is. So far, the two benefits have been: he likes mingling with the fans and says the right things and no drama (Kevin Brown, thin skin situations, etc.). Rubenstein is doing a lot of the same things that Angelos got heat for: T Rowe Price, land rights, etc. And while I don't think those are bad, we haven't seen much from Rubenstein materially, yet.

This year was definitely the honeymoon phase for Rubenstein. This next year is where the relationship can go any direction. 
 

As for the T. Rowe deal, I feel pretty confident in speculating that a compromise had to be made after Angelos secretly agreed to give them the stadium’s naming rights prior to the sale being announced/finalized with Rubenstein. Hopefully the Orioles are still getting some kind of meaningful revenue from the advertising because it was pretty widespread.

They had to absorb Jimenez deal. I can't remember how much it was owed but it was some decent coin from what I remembered.  Also you really think JA would had approved Eflin? I'm not so sure about that.  I be skeptical of this Maybe just maybe I'm hoping they the Orioles will finally spend some money and not be at the bottom of payroll. That is my hope

White Sox sent cash with Eloy.  Word is he cost the O's ~1.8M.  Not nothing but not what I'd call decent coin.

Cot's worksheet agrees with ~$1.8...it has the White Sox sending $4M vs. a prorated salary of $4.333 for end of 2024.

The 2025 column has the $1.5 buyout upcoming.

I guess Rubenstein could have done something fruitful if Reinsdorf had to give him the $4M on 7/30.

Yeah I'm trying to be optimistic that he will but if not then I give up really because he's not going anywhere for awhile one would think after he just bought the team. . No excuse not to increase payroll significantly with such a young team in a contending window.   If not now then when? No one is saying they should be the Dodgers or Yankees but no excuse not to be in the middle of the pack.
