I like the booing

Although we as fans don't go to the Yard in the 3 million person range anymore (there's a reason for that, O's FO), when we do show up we need to show that we're not happy with the losing.

When they play like ****, boo them. When you leave a closer in to give up the tying run and then the go ahead run when he obviously doesn't have it, boo Trembley. When Izturis is facing a wild pitcher and fouls out on the first pitch, boo him. When the O's have runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and can't score, boo them. And then don't go back anymore.

I've reached a breaking point. This is my last year of watching ****ty baseball.

Well said, Orioles fans have been patient long enough. And it has nothing to do with the last few games. The Orioles need to re-establish their winning tradition right now. We can't settle for less. We must to expect to win, any less is unacceptable.

How does booing help anything though? Gonzalez actually holds himself accountable for his mistakes.

I will say this though. This kind of stuff makes for some great reading on the hangout!!! (Although I obviously want a few more wins!) Much more entertaining. So glad were past the offseason and the hundreds of trade proposal threads.

It's not just for him. It's for MacPhail, it's for Angelos, It's for the people sitting in the seat next to you. We're not the Pirates, we're not the Royals. We've allowed the perception of our team to be "they're a small market in the toughest division in baseball who have no chance to compete." We're not a small market team, we're not poor. People cry for a salary cap while we used to have attendance marks over 3 million, we have a RSN, we have one of the best stadiums in baseball. Yet, we fans complain about the Yankees and the Red Sox and how much money they have. If you turn the clock back 12 years, we were in a very similar situation as both of those teams. They continued to win, we turned to ****. Yeah, NY has a huge market size, but to pull a Pedro and call them our daddy isn't what this organization was about for decades.

Every year, I tell my friends how excited I am about the start of the new season. They chuckle a little bit and say the O's suck. And I say, "Man, have you heard about (Roberts, Markakis, the way Guthrie pitched last year, Wieters, Bauer, Riley, etc., depending on the year)? They're about to turn the corner." Every year, I look like a fool. I'm tired.

    • Great sequence in the 10th where Mateo singled, driving in Westburg, stole 2nd and went to 3rd on the overthrow.  Then Mateo scored on a wild pitch.  I've joined the Mateo fan club, at least as a utility player.  Having Mateo on base has to drive pitchers crazy.
    • As someone that was all for DFA’ing McKenna for Hicks last week, I really can’t fault him for tonight.   I’m impressed he stole the base. He sort of had to run there with two outs. He stole it. He just came off the bag. That happens.  The route may have not been the best because he was going to his left and as a RH thrower he was just trying to position himself to throw home. He doesn’t have Vlad Sr’s arm out there. That’s a .01% chance play there.  Our CF depth is pretty thin. I think the only way we DFA McKenna is if Hicks comes here. Kjerstad will be the one to go for Hays. Remember last August when at full strength/healthy Mullins, and only a 26 man roster, we rolled with a 4 man bench of McCann, Hicks, Mateo, Urias/Frazier/Westburg.  Oddly, we’re deep enough into the season, and CF depth is thin, that I’d say there’s a 50/50 shot McKenna doesn’t clear waivers. I don’t know we have the luxury of CF depth to DFA him w/o Hicks in the mix.
    • I think they will DFA him. They already did it once. And the fact nobody claimed him means you’re probably right about not starting for other teams.
    • I had fun watching the extra innings of this game. That was good TV. Thanks Craig for serving up the evening’s entertainment!
    • Additionally, you can hover over the user name you want to ignore and a box pops up. The last button on the right at the bottom is the ignore button, click that and check all three boxes and you're done. Source: I'm a professional ignorer.
    • We have threads asking for Kremer, Grayson, and Povich in the closer role. Can we acknowledge that Cano is the pretty obvious next man up if Kimbrel is removed at some point? I don’t really care about his 9th inning splits. He’s our best reliever and until he gets a chance and fails I’m going to assume that’s just noise and he’ll do the best job. Tonight makes nine straight appearances with either a Save or Hold. Overall he has held a lead 10 times in 11 chances, and the one miss was a bad outing but still nearly a SV if not for Gunnar’s walk-off throwing error.
    • McKenna was finally beginning to grow on me after years of my derision. He's done a few good things offensively. But I think he wouldn't  start for another team in the American League. I would DFA him(they won't) and bring up Hays in LF, Cowser in CF for a while, and Santander in RF. I still think if they give Kjerstad enough at bats, and not just coming off the bench as a PH, he will hit and hit for power....I dont like him getting 4 at bats a week... I think he needs to play. Mullins needs to sit for a few games. He simply cant track the ball all of a sudden. Its almost hard to watch. Maybe he's hurting.
