  1. It will be interesting to see what happens. If Henderson and/or Westberg are hitting the cover off the ball in 4-6 weeks the cry for them to be promoted will get very loud fast. Especially after the big time disappointment of Grayson getting injured.
  2. Come on everyone. if you take anything seriously that Webbrick posts you are setting yourself up for a lot of frustration. His posts are a parody to get under everyones skin. As soon as a player we all are excited about he is going to make a dire prediction of his career. "He can't throw and he will never hit about 250." Maybe he will be correct but we will all find out in time. He would have picked someone else. Shocking. Has Webbrick ever said the Orioles made the right decision? I am sure we can find where he has written Austin Hayes off but he isn't say much about him now. It works because he does get everyone all jucied up and there was a time where he used to get me that way. Not for a while. When he takes a shot at a Adley Rutchsman I take it as good news for the long run.
  3. I agree about Trey. You add in the person he seems to be and what he has gone through it will be sad to see him go if that is what ends up happening. You better get something pretty good in return for him. If I woke up tomorrow and he was your DH signed for the next 3 years that would put a smile on my face.
  4. If it is because of the Super 2, then maybe June 17th against Tampa when they come home next.
  5. I think it is will be really tough to let him stay one more start in AAA. Adley was not hitting 300 plus when they called him up. They had some wiggle room there but this kid has done everything there is to prove he is ready. I will predict he starts Tuesday or Wednesday versus Seattle. This is something they should announce tomorrow. If they do I will buy tickets.
  6. No you don't. It just happens that everyone with a retired number did win a World Series but that isn't a requirement. If as said earlier Mike had played his whole career with the Orioles his number would be retired regardless if he won a world series. Cal won one his second season as an Oriole. If he hadn't do you think he wouldn't have his number retired?
  7. . They circled the last switch hitting Jesus's birthday to bring up the next one!!
  8. However if they were trying to win they would have called up Adley and they would have been 10-0 the last ten games!!
  9. Kyle Bradish's next start should be Monday night with Adley as his battery mate!
  10. I don't know how much but having catchers that can block balls in the dirt have made a difference with this year's pitching staff. The third strike to the batter after the inside the park homerun was on a breaking ball that bounced. Chirinos just caught it like a decent catcher does. I could see Severino completely whiffing on that ball and the guy gets on first base. Then the whole rest of the inning could go in a very different direction. A young pitcher like Bradish needs to know he can bounce that breaking ball and not let a runner advance, etc with confidence. It has to make a big difference. Watching the Orioles the last few years have been frustrating for many reasons but watching Severino catch and the DJ Stewart's playing the outfield was the most frustrating for me. I know they thought maybe Severino would hit more than he did but that went on way too long.
  11. I suspect they will shut him down once he reaches a total of innings they think is his max. That would only become an issue if they were still somehow in a pennant race. Which is unlikely.
  12. I understand that next year we play 4 or 5 less AL East games and then play all the NL not just certain divisions. I think we play the Nationals still 2 home and away games. It is much better and fairer in my opinion.
  13. Me either, I just activated him on my Roto team!
  14. So how many games before they get the extra year on him? That to me is the only excuse to not bring him up. Maybe they let him pitch to Adley at least one game. You bring up Grayson then Adley two weeks later. That would create a steady stream of "buzz."
  15. I think you are mostly correct but I do think there is a limit. Everyone in my office who cares about the Orioles was talking about this today.
  16. This an extremely bad decision. If half the teams were doing it then maybe but being the only one is just stupid. You are trying to get fans to buy into a rebuild. You are asking people to pay for tickets when you are telling people you really aren't going to compete yet but saying it is for the greater good. We all have to pay our cable fees whether they win or lose. We can all argue whether not paying for better players makes sense or not at this stage, but this is penny pinching. Period. Safety? BS. There is only so much of this fans are going to take. After a while the KY jelly supply runs out. At 62 I try not to overreact to things but this pisses me off.
  17. I think you are correct. I at least don't see the owners making much of a move towards the players. I think it will come down to how long the players can hold out from caving. The owners will lose a ton of money but they can afford it more than the players. I guess it comes down to how much will giving into the players or getting closer to their position will cost the owners over 5 years versus losing much or all of this season. If they play just 81 games and get to still play the playoffs I am betting that cost is worth it for the owners. It gets sticky when and if this goes beyond mid-July.
  18. They may not be happy but it is going to happen. It was fought for when the passed the law that all three sports stadiums in the state would be allowed to get a sports gambling license. I doubt they allow and kind of other gambling at the stadiums but a sportsbook of some kind will be at both Camden Yards and M&T.
  19. I really like this decision. I for one get bored with all the HR's in baseball as a whole. I think you will see Oriole hitters worry less about launch angles and just try to hit the ball. Usually before the summer heats up balls didn't fly out as much in April and May. I suspect there could be some real low scoring games especially early in the season. Since gambling is now even such a bigger deal it will be interesting to see how it affects the totals for games in Camden Yards.
  20. The Ravens just extended their contract with WBAL through 2026. https://www.wbaltv.com/article/baltimore-ravens-extend-broadcast-partnership-wbal-tv-radio/38515488# That said I don't think it means doom to 105.7. They are still the only station with local sports talk. I have no interest in National Sports talk shows. The last thing I want to here is 24/7 about the Yankees and Red Sox. Yes I agree the fan spends more time talking about the Ravens but that is what pays the bills. The Ravens have been competitive for the most part year after year where as we all know the Orioles have not. I prefer baseball but the NFL is the most popular sport by far. People will listen to the games on WBAL and switch back to listen to the talk shows talk about the Orioles. I am sure this is a business decision that WBAL offered to pay more than 105.7. Because the Orioles are on WBAL mostly in the evenings it isn't going to cause those people to turn on WBAL daytime political talk shows. Sports fans will still listen to 105.7 during the day if that is what they have been doing. As far as signals you can listen to any station anywhere on your smartphone.
  21. Two things that will never end, the Pandemic and this lawsuit.
  22. I have a feeling if there is spring training it may be June or July. I don't think this labor dispute is going to end quickly.
