"The problem is you have people that have been in the big leagues for five, six years, and they think they own the Orioles," he said. "They need to fix that problem. I treat everybody the same, and it's something that I can fix if they let me fix it."

Well, only BRob (6), Huff (7) and perhaps Bedard (4) seem to fit the years-in-the-league criteria. Hmmmm...

You know I think we've found the cause of the cancer in the clubhouse. It wouldn't surprise me to see Melvin has influenced Tejada and has made him what he is today as Melvin dragged Miggi down with him. Who would have thought it would have been the guy that most of us here wanted to "pay the man." Well look what that money has bought us. Extending Mora might have been the worst mistake Flanagan ever made...

This is great stuff, quite ironic...

If he does return, Mora made it known that things need to change. The veteran felt that the Orioles clubhouse was divided last season.

"The problem is you have people that have been in the big leagues for five, six years, and they think they own the Orioles," he said. "They need to fix that problem. I treat everybody the same, and it's something that I can fix if they let me fix it."

He was also disappointed in the manager's public criticism of enigmatic starter Daniel Cabrera. Trembley called Cabrera "unprofessional" after the pitcher threw behind the head of Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, nearly inciting a brawl.

"What Cabrera did was wrong, and I told him that. I told him, 'You could have killed that guy.' But what [Trembley] said to the media wasn't right either," Mora said. "This is the one guy that I want to have on my team. We have five starting pitchers, and Daniel is the only guy to stay healthy and throw 200 innings. But nobody says anything about that."

You are the divide Melvin, you and your buddy Miggi...

We can fix the problem by shipping you two out...

I actually agree with Melvin on this part:

"What Cabrera did was wrong, and I told him that. I told him, 'You could have killed that guy.' But what [Trembley] said to the media wasn't right either," Mora said

That beng said I'd be glad to see him go. Sounds like we got some real issues there.

Hahahaha, the Mora bashing reminds me of one of my favorite photo sequences from this season that displays his stellar baserunning skills:

At this point, I'd be overjoyed to see both of these guys leave. And to be honest, as much as you're upset with Millar for what he did during the postseason, at this point I'd much rather see Tejada and Mora out of the clubhouse than Millar. At least when Millar puts on the Oriole uniform, he's balls out. I can't see him ever not hustling or doing this whiney diva BS. Although I guess he did ever so moderately complain about playing time in 2006... oh well, nobody's perfect.

Again I ask... who is Melvin calling out that has 5-6 years in the league?

If I had to guess - Brian Roberts. Which is weird because of that handslap thing they do. But Roberts is more the face of this team than Mora. It wouldn't surprise me if it were Gibbons as well considering he is the player rep for the team...

I couldn't figure that out either. I also couldn't figure out what he was asking those people to do.

Somebody call up the Rockies and ask them how to build a team with chemistry and heart. I'm sure LaTroy Hawkins could come back and do a quick seminar. Even though they came up short, I'd give almost anything to watch a team like that on a weekly basis.

Does the chemistry only come after you've had success, or does success come from chemistry? Because if someone had told me this time last year that I'd be saying "I'd give almost anything to watch the ROCKIES", I would've thought them vexed. One could say that the O's clubhouse is as dysfunctional as it is because of all the frustration and the losing. Or are they losing because of all the dysfunction? It's a big chicken and egg thing here.

Of course, the fact that they don't hustle and are short on talent is probably a big part of the problem...

Sorry - stream of consciousness thinking... better stop before it gets worse

Where did you get this quote?! It's not in the article.

5-6 years in the Big Leagues:

He could be talking about:

Tejada

Hernandez

Roberts

Huff

Patterson

Gibbons

Baez

Walker

Bradford

Payton (my guess)

Millar (my second guess)

It is definitely in the article. 11th paragraph. Unless they went back and edited it after it was posted.

I found another quote that rubbed me the wrong way:

"But I want to be on a winning team. I don't want to be like, 'Let's make the fans wait six more years and then we're going to try to start winning again.' You don't want to deal with that."

You know what, you're wrong Melvin. I don't mind waiting six more years to start winning if the guys going out there every day look like they WANT to be out there every day, playing their guts out, hustling on every ground ball, and showing a growing understanding of basic baseball fundamentals (like BASERUNNING MELVIN!!). As long as they're learning, growing, and playing with heart, I'd much rather watch that for six more years that what we've been watching for the last six years.
