Well, if Chen signs here it lessens the chance of Wada working into the rotation, so it'd be helping his boy out to sign somewhere else.

With the starting pitching we have they could guarantee them the 2 & 3 slots in the rotation and start Tillman & Matusz in the minors as has already been suggested.

Yea I read it the same way. It's too bad. You'd think we would have a pretty good shot given that he has the same agent as Wada. It's hard not to get down on this franchise. It seems we can't get the most simple things accomplished.

Being the first to approach Wada and getting him quickly under contract is pretty impressive. If the O's don't sign Chen I don't think it was anything that was under their control.
