Kershaw could be a September callup and be in the rotation in 2009. He's that good.

look at his numbers, what shows that he is that good? a 8-7 record with a 3.65 era?

Thats about as much as I've heard, I just know we are working intensely on Bedard first before B-Rob because the last time I talked to him he basically said they are waiting on us.

Once you are in AA, if you can be very good for a few months, you aren't far away from the majors...especially when you are a top talent like Kershaw.

I agree, but problem is, he was 1-2 with a 4 era in AA last year.

I agree, but problem is, he was 1-2 with a 4 era in AA last year.

He was 19 years old and in AA and holding his own. That's pretty awesome.

That was only 5 games (24.1 IP) at age 19. His high A stats were good with a 2.77 ERA and 130 K's in only 97 innings.

I know all about him, I follow MiLB very closely, and he has been slightly above average in his first year and a half of pro ball. I realize he has a high ceiling, but i can pick many pitchers from same draft class that have better numbers thus far.

I never said I didn't want him, I am just saying, I would rather have position players, like Kemp. If it came down to it and we definetaly can't get Kemp, then i look closer at what we can do with the Reds.

Hu and LaRoche start this year for us.

Kershaw within a year if he stays healthy.

I'm comfortable with Hu starting because he is reputed to be an excellent defender but I have my doubts about La Roche, that's why I want more.

I do this trade without Kemp. Kershaw, Hu, LaRoche and Abreu/DeWitt. Then deal Roberts to the Cubs for Pie and Gallagher. Abreu or DeWitt fills in at 2nd.

Yes, I would say he is definately off limits.
